Bacterial cellulose nanocrystals produced under different hydrolysis conditions: properties and morphological features. Repositório Alice
VASCONCELOS, N. F.; FEITOSA, J. P. DE A.; GAMA, F. M. P. DA; MORAIS, J. P. S.; ANDRADE, F. K.; SOUZA FILHO, M. de S. M. de; ROSA, M. de F..
Bacterial cellulose (BC) is a polymer with interesting physical properties owing to the regular and uniformstructure of its nanofibers, which are formed by amorphous (disordered) and crystalline (ordered) regions.Through hydrolysis with strong acids, it is possible to transform BC into a stable suspension of cellulosenanocrystals, adding new functionality to the material. The aim of this work was to evaluate the effectsof inorganic acids on the production of BC nanocrystals (BCNCs). Acid hydrolysis was performed usingdifferent H2SO4concentrations and reaction times, and combined hydrolysis with H2SO4and HCl wasalso investigated. The obtained cellulose nanostructures were needle-like with lengths ranging between622 and 1322 nm, and diameters ranging between...

Development and validation of dissolution method for carvedilol compression-coated tablets BJPS
Shah,Ritesh; Patel,Sachin; Patel,Hetal; Pandey,Sonia; Shah,Shailesh; Shah,Dinesh.
The present study describes the development and validation of a dissolution method for carvedilol compression-coated tablets. Dissolution test was performed using a TDT-06T dissolution apparatus. Based on the physiological conditions of the body, 0.1N hydrochloric acid was used as dissolution medium and release was monitored for 2 hours to verify the immediate release pattern of the drug in acidic pH, followed by pH 6.8 in citric-phosphate buffer for 22 hours, to simulate a sustained release pattern in the intestine. Influences of rotation speed and surfactant concentration in medium were evaluated. Samples were analysed by validated UV visible spectrophotometric method at 286 nm. 1% sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) was found to be optimum for improving...

Synthesis of hydrochloric acid solution for total mercury determination in natural waters ArchiMer
Patel-sorrentino, Nathalie; Benaim, Jean-yves; Cossa, Daniel; Lucas, Yves.
Total mercury (Hg-T) determination requires the addition of concentrated hydrochloric acid solution (>= 10 mol L-1 HCl) in relatively high amounts to preserve the samples and to prepare reagent solutions. A method for the preparation of concentrated HCl with HgT concentration of lower than 5 ng L-1 is described in this article. It is based on the well-known chemical reaction: 2 NH4Cl+H2SO4 ->(NH4)(2)SO4+2 HCl. This method is validated thanks to the US Environmental Protection Agency method 1631 and standard reference materials BCR-579 (mercury in coastal seawater).
