| La domesticación de hongos silvestres comestibles, particularmente de Morchella es actualmente una necesidad, generada por su demanda en los mercados nacionales e internacionales. Sin embargo, no se tiene establecido un procedimiento para su producción comercial y el 100% de la producción comercializada proviene de recolecta del bosque, ocasionando la degradación del recurso. | ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to investigate the echocardiographic changes during anesthesia induction in dogs sedated with acepromazine (0.05mg/kg) and butorphanol (0.3mg/kg) (AB). Twenty-four male dogs, with a mean weight of 12.40kg±3.1kg, were randomly assigned to 4 groups (n=6). | Myocardial ischemia, as well as the induction agents used in anesthesia, may cause corrected QT interval (QTc) prolongation. The objective of this randomized, double-blind trial was to determine the effects of high- vs conventional-dose bolus rocuronium on QTc duration and the incidence of dysrhythmias following anesthesia induction and intubation. | Production of β-xylosidaseby a cycloheximide and 2-deoxy-D-glucose-resistant mutant of Kluyveromyces marxianus PPY125 was studied when cultured on growth media containing galactose, glucose, xylose, cellobiose, sucrose and lactose as carbon sources. Xylose, cellobiose, lactose and sucrose were the key substrates. Both K. marxianus PPY125 and its mutant (M 125) supported maximum β-xylosidase specific product yield (Y P/X) following growth on xylose. Basal level of activity was observed in non-induced cultures grown on glucose. The mutant produced 1.5 to 2-fold more β-xylosidase than that produced by the wild cells. | Hepatic progenitor cells (HPCs) are a potential cell source for liver cell transplantation but do not function like mature liver cells. We sought an effective and reliable method to induce HPC maturation. An immortalized HP14.5 albumin promoter-driven Gaussian luciferase (ALB-GLuc) cell line was established from HPCs isolated from fetal mouse liver of post coitus day 14.5 mice to investigate the effect of induction factors on ALB promoter. | Regulation of xylanase production in two thermophilic fungi Scytalidium thermophilum and Sporotrichum thermophile was investigated. The expression of xylanase was found to be inducible in both the cases. Various carbon sources were tested so as to identify the inducers. Soy flour and oat spelt xylan induced maximum level of xylanase in Scytalidium thermophilum and Sporotrichum thermophile respectively. Induction of xylanase in Scytalidium thermophilum led to simultaneous induction of cellulase. The zymography of enzyme preparations revealed that different carbon sources caused differential expression of multiple isoforms of xylanase in Scytalidium thermophilum, but same isoforms were expressed by Sporotrichum thermophile irrespective of the carbon source... |

| A simple and efficient protocol for recurrent somatic embryogenesis and plant regeneration is one of the prerequisites for genetic improvement of guava. An efficient reproducible regeneration somatic embryogenesis protocol was developed in four genotypes of Psidium guajava L. using immature zygotic embryo as starter explant.
