Conservation of summer forage excess represents a management strategy to meet animals' needs for dry matter in the shortage period, but has been poorly studied. Silage can be used for this purpose. This study analyzed the production of palisade grass silage from pasture subjected to different grazing intensities with and without additive, determining losses by gases and effluents and chemical composition of silage. The experiment was a 4 x 3 factorial completely randomized design, with four replications. Several legumes have natural ability to associate with nitrogen - fixing bacteria known as rhizobia. The efficiency of this association depends on the plant and bacterial genotype and the edaphoclimatic conditions. Peanut is a tropical legume able to associate with a wide range of rhizobia and the selection of efficient bacteria is important to increase the nitrogen fixation in this crop. Previous research in our laboratory demonstrated hormones known to respond to changing day length can influence fecal shedding of E. coli O157:H7 in cattle. Continuing with this research, we examined the effect of serum prolactin concentrations on fecal shedding of E. coli O157:H7 and cellular immune response. 2?Bromo???ergocryptine methanesulfonate salt (BROMO) a dopamine agonist and sulpiride a D?2 dopamine receptor blocker were administered to decrease and increase prolactin levels, respectively. This study aims to evaluate the phenotypical characteristics of bacterial isolates from mulungu (Erythrina velutina Willd.) nodules and determinate their Box-PCR fingerprinting. All bacteria were evaluated by the following phenotypic characteristics: growth rate, pH change, colony color and mucus production. The bacterial isolates able to re-nodulate the original host were also evaluated regarding its tolerance to increased salinity and different incubation temperatures, ability to growth using different carbon sources, intrinsic antibiotic resistance and ?in vitro? auxin biosynthesis. RESUMO: A associação simbiótica da soja [Glycine max (L.) Merrill] com bactérias do gênero Bradyrhizobium resulta no processo de fixação biológica do N2. A inoculação com estirpes selecionadas garante a maximização do processo biológico e, no Brasil, são comercializados, anualmente, quase 13 milhões de doses de inoculante, a maioria à base de turfa. A adesão da turfa às sementes, porém, é baixa, requerendo o uso de adesivos. A recomendação atual é de uso de solução açucarada (açúcar comercial) a 25%, mas essa concentração poderia reduzir o vigor e aumentar a incidência de doenças nas sementes. Efficient inoculation of diazotrophic bacteria into sugarcane by the drip irrigation system PAB

Abstract: The objective of this work was to assess the efficiency of the inoculation of a diazotrophic bacterial consortium by the drip irrigation system into sugarcane (Saccharum spp.), in the Brazilian semiarid region. The evaluated treatments were: standard inoculation by submersion; one or two inoculations by drip irrigation; nitrogen (urea) applied by fertigation; and negative controls, without inoculation or nitrogen fertilization. Leaf gas exchanges and plant growth and yield were assessed. Inoculation by irrigation is efficient for all variables, and double inoculation by the drip irrigation system stands out, increasing stem yield in 16% when compared with the negative control, without differing from the treatment with nitrogen fertilizer.

The objective of this work was to evaluate the contribution of efficient nitrogen-fixing rhizobial strains to grain yield of new cowpea cultivars, indicated for cultivation in the Brazilian Semiarid region, in the sub-medium of the São Francisco River Valley. Two experiments were set up at the irrigated perimeters of Mandacaru (Juazeiro, state of Bahia) and Bebedouro (Petrolina, state of Pernambuco). Abstract: The objective of this work was to compare distributions for the modeling of the number and dry matter weight of nodules (DWN) of Rhizobium from different inoculants in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) inbred lines subjected to nitrogen doses, as well as to identify the best inoculant for those lines. ABSTRACT Using biological inputs to improve the efficiency of nitrogen fertilizers represents an alternative for the cultivation of grasses in tropical regions. Azospirillum brasilense is a species of plant growth promoting bacteria widely studied and used in inoculants. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the performance of Mombasa grass ( Megathyrsus maximus ) in association with A. brasilense and nitrogen (N) fertilization. The study was conducted under field conditions in Araguaína-Tocantins State, between December 2017 and May 2018.
