Due to failures of infection after mechanical inoculation of begomovirus on tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) plants, an efficient and reliable begomovirus inoculation method was developed using the whitefly vector (Bemisia tabaci). Virus acquisition was carried out using a 'Tube-cage', made of a polypropylene tube, containing one to two day-old whiteflies and a tomato plant apex infected with a begomovirus isolate. A soja é considerada a maior fonte de proteínas para a alimentação animal e humana e seus subprodutos oferecem grande diversidade de emprego na indústria química. A expansão dessa cultura no Brasil acentou-se a partir de 1973, quando ocorreu uma grande elevação de seu preço no mercado internacional. A sua participação na pauta de exploração tem sido muito expressiva. Em 1979 contribuiu com cerca de 2 bilhões de dólares em divisas. Ocupa atualmente cerca de 20% de área cultivada no País. ABSTRACT The inoculation of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), increasing the rhizospheric influence, might provide higher levels of bioactive compounds. Thus, the objective was to evaluate the influence of the AMF inoculation on the physicochemical components of fruit’s quality in field. Strawberry fruits from cultivars Camarosa, Aromas, Camino Real, Monterey, Portola, San Andreas and Albion in 2016, and Camarosa, Camino Real, Monterey and Albion in 2017 were either inoculated or non-inoculated with AMF. Para evaluar microorganismos de la rizosfera de Bouteloua curtipendula (Michx.) Torr., se recolectó suelo de cinco localidades 1) Salinas, San Luis Potosí 2) Ejido, Jacalón, Salinas, San Luis Potosí; 3) Calera, Zacatecas; 4) Santa María del Oro, Durango y 5) Crucero La Zarca, Durango. La población de actinomicetos, bacterias y hongos, se estimó con diluciones seriadas (10-1 a 10-10). Los actinomicetos (AS), bacterias (BS) y hongos (HS) se estimaron con diluciones 10-3 a 10-5; 10-5 a 10-7; 10-2 a 10-4, respectivamente, con cinco repeticiones. Components of resistance were evaluated in seven Musa genotypes artificially inoculated with mycelia fragment suspensions of Mycosphaerella fijiensis Morelet (strain CCIBP-Pf80). Incubation period, number and area of necrotic lesions, infection index, area under the disease progress curve, asexual latent period, and number of spermogonia were evaluated in the genotype leaves to dissect the infective cycle of the fungus under greenhouse conditions. Incubation period in the inoculated leaves began at 14-21 days post infection, and significant differences were detected in the response of the different genotypes. ABSTRACT The agro-industrialization of animal products has led to a significant waste generation, which has been stabilized by composting process in specialized plants. Waste stabilization time on composting depends on the handling used. 12 treatments were performed, three frequency turnings combined with two environmental conditions (with and without coverage of the composting area) and with and without commercial inoculant, whose results were submitted to multiple regression analysis. Two groups of domestic pigeons (Columba livia) were experimentally infected orally with doses of 9.5 x10(7) and 9.5 x10(9) CFU/mL (group A and B, respectively) of a Salmonella Enteritidis (SE) strain isolated from chickens. None of the used doses caused mortality of the inoculated birds; however, the pathogen was successfully recovered from the liver and spleen of group B birds on day 7 post-inoculation (dpi). Pathogen shedding, as evaluated through cloacal swabs, occurred in both groups until the 14th day of observation (p <0.05). ABSTRACT The effect of plant growth-promoting bacteria inoculation on plant growth and the sugar content in Agave americana was assessed. The bacterial strains ACO-34A, ACO-40, and ACO-140, isolated from the A. americana rhizosphere, were selected for this study to evaluate their phenotypic and genotypic characteristics. The three bacterial strains were evaluated via plant inoculation assays, and Azospirillum brasilense Cd served as a control strain. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene showed that strains ACO-34A, ACO-40 and ACO-140 were Rhizobium daejeonense, Acinetobacter calcoaceticus and Pseudomonas mosselii, respectively.
