A revised key to the subfamilies, tribes and subtribes of the Cetoniidae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea) is presented. Comments are given on the classification implied by the key, which includes several redefinitions. All the known genera (ca. 510) are listed under their tribe or subtribe, the position of several being different from that in Schenkling's catalogues (1921, 1922). References to recent synoptic literature are given. Eighteen new subtribes are proposed, the majority in the tribe Cremastocheilini. One new tribe is proposed, the Platygeniini. Attention is drawn to various new and neglected synonymies, original spellings, and other nomenclatural matters regarding family-group and genus-group names. The position of many genera is briefly discussed.... |

This paper presents a summary of the current knowledge on the systematics of the Greek taxa of Chorthippus, morphologically characterised by angled lateral pronotal keels (usually grouped as Glyptobothrus). Prior to this paper, based on traditional morphology, ten taxa of Chorthippus with angled lateral pronotal keels were recognized from Greece. Based on morphology as well as (and more importantly so) bioacoustics thirteen Greek taxa are now recognised. With addition of a few additional related taxa that occur only outside Greece, all are treated in this paper: Chorthippus apricarius apricarius (Linnaeus, 1758), C. vagans vagans (Eversmann, 1848) (not in Greece), C. v. cypriotus (Uvarov, 1936) stat. nov. [Cyprus], C. v. africanus Nadig, 1981 [N. Africa],... |

The beetle superfamily Curculionoidea includes 43 species associated with Araucaria angustifolia trees in South Brazil. These weevil species belong to the families Nemonychidae (Brarus Kuschel, 1997, Rhynchitoplesius Voss, 1952), Brentidae (Taphroderes Schönherr, 1826) and Curculionidae, the latter including the subfamilies Curculioninae (Heilipodus Kuschel, 1955, Spermologus Schönherr, 1843), Cossoninae (Araucarius Kuschel, 1966, Eurycorynophorus Voss, 1964), Scolytinae (Ambrosiodmus Hopkins, 1915, Araptus Eichhoff, 1871, Cnesinus LeConte, 1868, Corthylus Erichson, 1836, Cryptocarenus Eggers, 1936, Hypothenemus Westwood, 1834, Monarthrum Kirsch, 1866, Pagiocerus Eichhoff, 1868, Phloeotribus Latreille, 1896, Pityophthorus Eichhoff, 1864, Xylechinosomus... |

The Choleva agilis-group is revised. The three species are redescribed and their zoogeography is discussed. The phylogeny of the three species is hypothesized. Choleva jailensis Jeannel, 1923 and C. agilis clermonti van der Wiel, 1931 are new synonyms of C. agilis (Illiger, 1798). C. lederiana var. brevicollis Krogerus, 1926, is a new synonym of C. lederiana Reitter, 1901. The cavernicolous taxon gracilenta Szymczakowski, 1957, formerly regarded as a subspecies of C. lederiana, is transferred to C. septentrionis Jeannel, 1923. |

The genus Microtypus Ratzeburg, 1848 (Braconidae: Microtypinae) is revised, its species are keyed, and a new species, M. petiolatus van Achterberg spec. nov. is described. The type species is redescribed and fully illustrated. The genus Similearinus Glowacki & Karpinski, 1967 is a new junior synonym of Microtypus; S. ilinskyi Glowacki & Karpiński, 1967 is a new junior synonym of Microtypus trigonus (Nees, 1834), and M. dioryctriae Rohwer, 1920 of M. wesmaelii Ratzeburg, 1848. For both senior synonyms neotypes are designated. The Malagasian species that have been placed in Microtypus are excluded and transferred to the genus Stantonia Ashmead, 1904. |
