The tribe Micrutalini and its two genera, Trachytalis Fowler and Micrutalis Fowler, are redescribed. The following species are treated and, in some cases, nomenclatura! changes introduced: Trachytalis isabellina Fowler, 1895; T. distinguenda Fowler, 1895; T. retrofasciata (Lethierry, 1890), comb.n.; Micrutalis alrovena Goding, 1930; M. balteata (Fairmaire, 1846) = Aculalis lucidus Buckton, 1902, syn.n.; M. bella Goding, 1929; M. biguttula (Fairmaire, 1846), comb.n.; M. binaria (Fairmaire, 1846) = Acutalis flavivenlris Lethierry, 1890, syn.n.; M. callan-gensis Goding, 1930; M. calva (Say, 1830); M. discalis (Walker, 1858); M. dorsalis (Fitch, 1851); M. dubia Fowler, 1895 = M. zeteki Goding, 1928, syn.n.; M. flava Goding, 1929; M. flavozonala (Fairmaire,... |

In the collection of Museu de Zoologia, Universidade de São Paulo, São Paulo, there are specimens from Schrottky's collection which constitute the sintypes of some of the species of Anthidium that he described in 1910. Studying this genus, it is pertinent to designate the Lectotypes of these species, as follows: Anthidium cuzcoense Schrottky, 1910; Anthidium garleppi Schrottky, 1910; Anthidium nigerrimum Schrottky, 1910; Anthidium patagonicum Schrottky, 1910, and Anthidium peruvianum Schrottky, 1910. The lectotype of Anthidium kuscheli Moure, 1957, deposited in the collection of Departamento de Zoologia, Universidade Federal do Paraná, Curitiba, is also here designated. |

The holotype of Testudo vosmaeri Fitzinger, 1826 [= Geochelone vosmaeri] is RMNH 6001. The holotype of Testudo forstenii Schlegel & Müller, 1840 [= lndotestudo forstenii] is RMNH 3811. I. forstenii is considered a senior synonym of T. travancorica Boulenger, 1907 because plastral colour pattern, gular measurements, and general shell morphology do not distinguish Indian populations from Indonesian populations. The lectotype of Testudo emys Schlegel & Müller, 1840 [= Manouria emys] is RMNH 3808. lndotestudo and Manouria are recognized as separate genera and briefly diagnosed. In order to avoid nomenclatural confusion and conserve current usuage, the pre-Linnaean figure in Piso (1658: 105) is selected as the lectotype for Testudo geometrica Linnaeus,... |

The Natural History Museum, Tring, holds type material from Japan upon which names were based by Gould, Gurney, Hargitt, Ingram, Mathews, Oates, Seebohm, Sharpe, Swinhoe, Tristram and Vigors. In most cases selected types, which are not necessarily lectotypes, have been listed by Warren (1966) or Warren & Harrison (1971), but we provide here information that has come to light during preparatory work on a list of types of all Japanese taxa. We have located types for a number of taxa for which they had not been identified or segregated, and lectotypes are here designated for three taxa to safeguard current nomenclatural practice. |

The E. dolichocera-group of Edessa Fabricius, 1803 (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae: Edessinae) is proposed and the species are described, including two new to science. This group includes three South American species: Edessa dolichocera (Lichtenstein, 1795), E. guyanensis spec. nov. and E. nigromaculata spec. nov. E. ductor Walker, 1868 is considered to be a junior synonym of E. dolichocera (Lichtenstein, 1795). The lectotypes of Cimex dilochocerus Lichtenstein, 1795 and of Edessa ductor Walker, 1868, are designated. The habitus, metasternal and external genital characters and the distribution of the three species are described and illustrated. The drawings are from the first author, the photographs are made by the second author. Measurements are given in... |
