Based on the findings of this study, the following actions are proposed for consideration by the Government of Kenya: 1. Raise public investment in maize seed breeding and agronomic research to make it possible for improvements in smallholder crop productivity. Based on research evaluating the returns to alternative investments in agriculture, public expenditures in maize seed breeding and agronomy may constitute the single most important investment to promote broad-based productivity growth and poverty reduction in Kenya. 2. A vizsgálatok feltárták az egyes régiók gabonatermelése közti különbsége-ket, különös tekintettel a vetésterületek, hozamok és az árbevételek alakulására. Megállapítást nyert, hogy: • A legjelentősebb búzatermelő régióink a Dél-Dunántúl és a Dél-Alföld. Mindkét régióban az összes betakarított termésmennyiség és a termésátlag is meghaladta a többi régió eredményeit a vizsgált időszakban. • A kukorica esetében is a Dél-Dunántúli Régió a meghatározó, 2004-ben 11%-kal többet takarítottak be az Észak-Alföld termelésénél és közel hétszer többet a legalacsonyabb terméseredményű Közép-Magyaroszágénál. The objective of this study was to identify restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) markers linked to QTLs that control aluminum (Al) tolerance in maize. The strategy used was bulked segregation analysis (BSA) and the genetic material utilized was an F2 population derived from a cross between the Al-susceptible inbred line L53 and Al-tolerant inbred line L1327. Both lines were developed at the National Maize and Sorghum Research Center - CNPMS/EMBRAPA. The F2 population of 1554 individuals was evaluated in a nutrient solution containing a toxic concentration of Al and relative seminal root length (RSRL) was used as a phenotype measured tolerance.
