Characterization and quantification of postharvest losses of apple fruit stored under commercial conditions. Repositório Alice

The objectives of this study were to characterize and quantify postharvest losses of apples under commercial conditions in Santa Catarina state, Brazil. Two experiments were conducted using ?Gala? and ?Fuji? apples. The first experiment was to characterize and quantify the most important causes of loss of fruit treated or not treated with 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) then held in controlled atmosphere (CA) storage. This experiment was conducted in commercial storage facilities from 2007 to 2010. Dissoconiaceae associated with sooty blotch and flyspeck on fruits in China and the United States Naturalis

Zasmidium angulare, a novel species of Mycosphaerellaceae, and several novel taxa that reside in Dissoconiaceae, were identified from a collection of apples and Cucurbita maxima (cv. Blue Hubbard) from China and the USA that exhibited sooty blotch and flyspeck (SBFS) signs on their host substrata. Embryo rescue from interspecific crosses in apple rootstocks PAB

The objetive of this work was to rescue immature embryos of apple rootstocks Malus prunifolia (Marubakaido) and Malus pumila (M9) after 40-60 days of pollination and to put them into MS culture media supplemented with agar (6 g L-1) and casein hydrolysate (500 mg L-1). Embryos originated from interspecific crosses and open pollination showed differences in the in vitro responses, depending on the female parent, the developmental stage of the embryo, and the culture medium composition. El daño por insolación, golpe de sol o sunburn (Figure 1), es uno de los mayores problemas que afectan la calidad a cosecha de diversos cultivos reduciendo su valor comercial. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue estudiar la evolución de la severidad del daño por golpe de sol leve, moderado y severo en manzanas 'Granny Smith' durante la conservación a 0°C. Frutos con estos niveles de daño fueron previamente tratados con 2000 ]AAs l de difenilamina (DPA) o 625 nLL' de 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP). This study evaluated the effect of growing site environmental conditions on apple fruit quality. Experimental orchards with ?Gala? and ?Fuji? apple strains were established in the ubtropical humid climate in Southern Brazil, between 26◦ and 28◦S, in the growing sites of S ̃ao Joaquim, Caçador and Vacaria, located 1415, 960, and 971 m, respectively, above sea level. ABSTRACT - The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of pre‑harvest spraying with aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG) and ethephon on fruit maturation of 'Baigent' apple (Malus domestica) trees grown under black anti‑hail nets. Microcyclospora and Microcyclosporella: novel genera accommodating epiphytic fungi causing sooty blotch on apple Naturalis

Recent studies have found a wide range of ascomycetes to be associated with sooty blotch and flyspeck (SBFS) blemishes on the surfaces of pomaceous fruits, specifically apples. Based on collections of such fungi from apple orchards in Germany and Slovenia we introduce two novel genera according to analyses of morphological characters and nuclear ribosomal DNA sequences (large subunit and internal transcribed spacer regions). Simultaneous detection of four viruses affecting apple and pear by molecular hybridization using a polyprobe Ciência Rural

The viruses Apple stem grooving virus (ASGV), Apple chlorotic leaf spot virus (ACLSV), Apple stem pitting virus (ASPV) and Apple mosaic virus (ApMV) are common in apples and pears and main targets of detection in propagation materials. This study aimed at demonstrating the usefulness of the hybridization method with a non-radioactive probe for simultaneous detection of these four viruses. The sensitivity of this method was sufficiently high enabling the detection of ASGV, ACLSV, ASPV and ApMV in total RNA extracted from infected samples. The probe specificity was confirmed by reaction with homologous viral cDNA, individually cloned for each virus.

A macieira (Malus sp.) cultivada em solos ácidos com pH inferior a 5,0 pode apresentar distúrbios nutricionais e inibição de crescimento causados por níveis tóxicos de Al que podem afetar a absorção do Ca, o qual apresenta estreita correlação com a produção de frutos de melhor qualidade. O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar a tolerância ao Al em 18 somaclones e três cultivares porta-enxertos provenientes da seleção in vitro. As plântulas foram cultivadas durante 45 dias em copos de plástico de 300 mL contendo solução nutritiva e utilizando-se sílica lavada como substrato. Uso de ágar, amido e ácido indolbutírico no enraizamento in vitro do porta-enxerto de macieira MM 111 Ciência Rural

O ágar é um dos componentes mais caros do meio de propagação in vitro. Visando a reduzir custos, os estudos foram desenvolvidos no Laboratório de Cultura de Tecidos da EMBRAPA/CPACT, Pelotas RS, objetivando-se testar a ação do ágar e da sua substitução parcial pelo amido de mandioca na composição do agente solidificante (AS) do meio MS, associados às concentrações de 0; 2,5; 5,0; 7,5 e 10µM de ácido indolbutírico (AIB). Os dois AS de meio de cultivo testados: AS1 - 6g/l de ágar e; AS2 - combinação de 3g/l de ágar mais 50g/l de amido de mandioca (fécula), tiveram redução de Vi dos sais de MS e acréscimos de 100mg/l de mio-inositol e 30g/l de sacarose, juntamente com pH ajustado em 5,9 antes da autoclavagem. Uso do ácido indolbutírico e do escuro no enraizamento in vitro do porta-enxerto de macieira 'Marubakaido' Ciência Rural

O trabalho teve por objetivo estudar o enraizamento in vitro do porta-enxerto 'Marubakaido' (Malus prunifolia Borkh), visando a diminuir os efeitos prejudiciais causados pelo excesso de auxina. Foram utilizadas brotações do porta-enxerto 'Marubakaido' com três pares foliares (2,5 a 3 cm), oriundas do processo de multiplicação in vitro. O meio utilizado foi o MS/2 acrescido de l00mg/l de mio-inositol, 30 g/l de sacarose e 6g/l de ágar. O pH foi ajustado para 5,9, antes da colocação do ágar. Abstract: The objective of this work was to identify rootstocks with competitive agronomic potential to substitute those currently used in Southern Brazil for the Galaxy and Fuji Suprema apple scion cultivars cultivated on replanting soils. The experiment was carried out in the municipality of Lebon Regis, in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, from the 2009/2010 to the 2014/2015 crop season, in a randomized complete block design, with four replicates.
