METROC : évaluation des apports de contaminants chimiques de la métropole marseillaise au milieu marin ArchiMer
Jany, Cassandre; Zebracki, Mathilde.
METROC program (part of the MEDICIS program about study and fate of the chemical contamination in Western Mediterranean Sea) focuses on sources and wastes issued by large metropolis, with the agglomeration of Marseille as a pilot site. This report presents the results of a sampling campaign in rivers and urban discharges in Marseille and on different types of contaminants (metals, PAH, PCB and PBDE) in dissolved and particulate phases, in dry and rain periods. Results show that concentrations of pollutants are greater in Aygalades river (metals and organic contaminants) and in Emissaire 2, sewer overflows and torrents. From the results of the analysis and discharge given by the DEA, we estimated partially the flows of pollutants which show that the first...

Sediment transport in the Bay of Marseille : Role of extrem events. ArchiMer
Verney, Romaric; Jany, Cassandre; Thouvenin, Benedicte; Pairaud, Ivane; Vousdoukas, Michalis I.; Pinazo, Christel; Ardhuin, Fabrice; Cann, Philippe.
Human pressures on ecosystems have increased significantly over the last decades, and especially Mediterranean coasts are strongly impacted by the development of big cities and industrialized area, such as the Bay of Marseille. Prior to any investigations on ecological or contamination impacts, it was necessary to understand sediment dynamics and its response to natural extreme events such as storm or heavy rainfall events. In situ observations were dedicated to understand the behavior of bed sediments, and their spatial distribution. A benthic station was deployed for three months to observe the impact of extreme events on hydrodynamics and sediment dynamics in a critical zone of the study area. These measurementswere used to calibrate and validate the...

Schockaert, E.R.; Brunet, M..
Two new species of Polycystididae from the french area of the Mediterranean sea are described and included in the new genus. Gallorhynchus. The female duct is a ductus uterocommunis, the gonade are unpaired. The male copulatory organ has an interposed prostatic part and no free prostatic vesicle. The cuticular apparatus consists of two concentric stylets. In Gallorhynchus simplex n. sp. the outer stylet is ornamentated with spirally arranged edges and 190 µ long. An accessory cuticular organ is lacking
