Abstract: Alternative copper (Cu) sources could be used in fertilizer production, although the bioavailability of copper in these materials is unknown. The objective of this study was to evaluate the extractants neutral ammonium citrate (NAC), 2 % citric acid, 1 % acetic acid, 10 % HCl, 10 % H2SO4, buffer solution pH 6.0, DTPA, EDTA, water, and hot water in the quantification of available Cu content in several sources, relating them to the relative agronomic efficiency (RAE) of wheat grown in a clayey Latossolo Vermelho eutrófico (Oxisol) and Neossolo Quartzarênico (Typic Quartzipsamment). Realizou-se uma analise de oito experimentos envolvendo as culturas irrigadas de tomate industrial, alho e feijao no Vale do Submedio Sao Francisco, no periodo de 1976 a 1996, com o objetivo de verificar resposta a rnicronutrientes. Os tratamentos dos experimentos consistiram da presenca e ausencia de boro, cobre, ferro, manganes, molibdenio e zinco, com quatro repeticoes, em delineamento de blocos ao acaso. NÆo foram constatadas respostas do alho e do feijoeiro a aplicacao de micronutrientes. O tomateiro respondeu so- mente a aplicacao de boro, e em apenas um dos experimentos, com aumento de 12,86 t/ha de frutos. |

ABSTRACT In Paraná, most of the sludge generated in sewage treatment plants is subjected to the prolonged alkaline stabilization process. Although it is known that the alkaline sewage sludge contains micronutrients such as Zn, Cu and Mn, little is known about the availability of these elements in soils treated with this type of sewage sludge. Thus, the objective of the study was to evaluate the influence of alkaline sewage sludge from Paraná on Zn, Cu and Mn availability in soils.
