Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) was reported in the 1960's to affect Meyer lemon trees in Chile, but no field symptoms were observed. This study performed a complete biological, serological and molecular characterization of one hundred CTV isolates obtained from different hosts and geographical origins. Decline symptoms (DI) were not found on trees grafted onto sour orange. In Pica Oasis in northern Chile, stem pitting (SP) was found to affect grapefruit and Mexican lime trees. Biological and molecular characterization of Streptococcus crista strains isolated from human dental biofilm by means of arbitrary primers - PCR (AP-PCR) BJM

Streptococcus ssp are important components of the dental biofilm and Streptococcus crista is considered to be an interesting model of bacterial interactions taking place in this biofilm. In the present work, S. crista strains were isolated from the dental biofilm of Brazilian individuals and studied with respect to their biological characteristics and their molecular profile by means of AP-PCR techniques, using the RR2, 434, OPR2, OPR8, and OPR13 primers. Se realizó la caracterización organísmica y genética en poblaciones de Morchella spp. de bosques puros de Abies religiosa de la región Central de México, con niveles contrastantes de contaminación atmosférica. Characterization and expression of two cDNA encoding 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase isoforms in coffee (Coffea arabica L.). Repositório Alice

In higher plants there are two independent pathways for isoprenoid biosynthesis, located in the cytosol (mevalonic acid or MVA pathway) or in the plastids (methylerythritol phosphate ? MEP pathway). The 3-hydroxy-3-methyglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGR) is the first committed step in the MVA pathway. Using the information available from the Brazilian Coffee Genome Project, we found 13 ESTs that originated two isoforms, CaHMGR1 and CaHMGR2, for the enzyme HMGR of Coffea arabica. A complementary DNA encoding the isoform CaHMGR1 was cloned, and its complete nucleotide sequence determined. Abstract Apple chlorotic leaf spot virus(ACLSV) infects temperate rosaceous fruit trees worldwide and causes a wide range of diseases that are economically highly damaging. This study was carried out to analyze genetic variability of regional ACLSV isolates and compare it with ACLSV isolates from other parts of the world. Progesterone plays an important role in sow reproduction by stimulating classic genomic pathways via nuclear receptors and non-genomic pathways via membrane receptors such a progesterone receptor membrane component 2 (PGRMC2). In this work, we used radiation hybrid mapping to assign PGRMC2 to pig chromosome 8 and observed that this receptor has two transcripts in pigs. The full-length cDNA of the large transcript is 1858 bp long and contains a 669-bp open reading frame (ORF) encoding a protein of 223 amino acids. The shorter transcript encodes a protein of 170 amino acids. The porcine PGRMC2 gene consists of three exons 446 bp, 156 bp and 1259 bp in length. ABSTRACT This study determined the presence of Tremovirus A as the possible agent related to Avian Encephalomyelitis in broiler chicks from the states of São Paulo (SP) Paraná (PR), Goiás (GO), Santa Catarina (SC) and Rio Grande do Sul (RS), between the years 2006 and 2015. Samples of the nervous, digestive, respiratory, immune, and renal systems, plus muscular organs from broiler chicks with neurological problems such as ataxia and muscle tremors, and four (4) commercial vaccines as positive control, were tested by reverse-transcriptase (RT-PCR) amplification and DNA sequencing. Development of an SSR-based identification key for Tunisian local almonds Scientia Agricola

Ten simple sequence repeat (SSR) loci were used to study polymorphism in 54 almond genotypes. All genotypes used in this study originated from almond-growing areas in Tunisia with different climatic conditions ranging from the sub-humid to the arid and are preserved in the national collection at Sidi Bouzid. Using ten SSR, 130 alleles and 250 genotypes were revealed. In order to develop an identification key for each accession, the data were analysed separately for each microsatellite marker. Genetic divergence within and among races of Colletotrichum lindemuthianum was determined using RAPD markers. In addition to the different races of the fungus three isolates of the sexual stage of Colletotrichum lindemuthianum (Glomerella cingulata f.sp. phaseoli) were included in this study. The band patterns generated using 11 primers produced 133 polymorphic bands. The polymorphic bands were used to determine genetic divergence among and within the pathogen races. The isolates analyzed were divided into six groups with 0.75 relative similarity. Group VI, formed by three isolates of the sexual phase of Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, was the most divergent. The cultivation of this species in several regions of the world has allowed variations by natural crosses and euploidy, leading to the wide genetic variability found nowadays. Considering the importance of this species, we aimed to analyze the genetic diversity of 27 basil genotypes using ISSR molecular markers.
