Com o objetivo de verificar a multiplicacao, expressao de sintomas foliares e efeito dos molicutes na producao de diferentes genotipos de milho, fitoplasma e Spiroplasma kunkelii foram inoculados, isolada ou simultaneamente, em cinco cultivares, mantidas em vasos ate a producao. Plantas sadias de todas as cultivares foram utilizadas como controle. Em cada vaso, foram cultivadas duas plantas, sendo uma utilizada para a deteccao dos molicutes na ultima folha completamente expandida, aos 30, 60 e 100 dias apos a inoculacao. A outra planta foi utilizada para deteccao dos molicutes nas folhas inferiores, medianas e apicais, aos 100 dias apos a inoculacao. In vitro growth of Brassocattleya orchid hybrid in different concentrations of KNO3, NH4NO3 and benzylaminopurine Horticultura Brasileira

One of the most important applications of plant tissue culture is mass propagation of ornamental plants. This experiment evaluated the effect of different concentrations of NH4NO3 and KNO3 and BAP on the in vitro growth of orchid hybrid Brassocattleya 'Pastoral'. Seedlings of this orchid hybrid were used as explants and cultivated in medium with mineral salts and vitamins from the MS medium (Murashige & Skoog, 1962), with the macronutrients P, Ca and Mg reduced by half, and with an addition of 25 g L-1 of sucrose, 0.1 g L-1 of myo-inositol and 1.5 g L-1 of activated charcoal. The aim of this study was to establish an efficient protocol for the in vitro propagation of the endangered, endemic and decorative species Dianthus pinifolius Sibth. et Sm. The effects of different concentrations of 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) and naphtalenacetic acid (NAA), and different explant types (single-node cuttings, terminal buds and shoot cuttings) on shoot multiplication were examined on Murashige and Skoog (MS) and half-strength MS media. The best results were obtained for shoot cuttings on the MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/L BAP and 0.1 mg/L NAA, achieving a maximum rate of regeneration (100%) and a total of 15.4 newly-developed shoots per explant. The research aimed to establish a protocol of micropropagation of Syngonanthus elegans. Seed germination in WPM media containing 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% salt concentrations was evaluated. Establishment of plantlets in WPM and MS media, with 50% or 100% salt concentrations, was studied. The addition of 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 g L-1of sucrose in WPM media was evaluated. The effects of TDZ (0.0; 0.5; 1.0; 2.0 and 4.0 mg L-1) and ANA (0.0; 0.5 and 1.0 mg L-1) in all possible combinations were investigated. Production of pre-basic potato seed by polyvinyl chloride PVC: articulate gutters hydroponic system BABT

The development of more efficient and productive systems for pre-basic seed potato production would improve the quality of the propagative material used by the potato growers, directly affecting the crop yields. A two-year experiment was carried out to evaluate the potato pre-basic seed production by two types of hydroponic systems (fibrocement tiles and articulated PVC gutters), two cultivars (`Baronesa` and `Eliza`) and two types of propagative material (plants coming from in vitro culture and minitubers). The PVC gutters system was highly efficient. When using minitubers, this system reached multiplication rates up to 74 tubers per plant. Minitubers were more productive than in vitro plants, independent of cultivar and hydroponic system utilized.
