Biological Synthesis of Selenium Nanoparticles and Evaluation of their Bioavailability BABT
Pouri,Saeedeh; Motamedi,Hossein; Honary,Soheyla; Kazeminezhad,Iraj.
ABSTRACT Nanoparticles due to their unique properties have attracted more attention and their bacterial biosynthesis is more favorable because is environmental friendly and the size and yield of nanoparticles can be optimized. The aim of the present study was biosynthesis of Selenium nanoparticles using Bacillus cereus. For this purpose, bacterial culture was prepared in the presence of sodium selenate solution and incubated (30°C, 24 h). The produced nanoparticles were purified through consequent centrifugation, washing with 0.9% NaCl, sonication, washing with Tris- HCl containing Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and finally isolation with water- octanol two phase systems. Then using Ultraviolet-Visible spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering (DLS), scaning...

Cytotoxic Effect on Cancerous Cell Lines by Biologically Synthesized Silver Nanoparticles BABT
Kulandaivelu,Balaji; Gothandam,K M.
The biosynthesis of nanoparticles has been proposed as an environmental friendly and cost effective alternative to chemical and physical methods. Silver nanoparticles are biologically synthesized and characterized were used in the study. The invitro cytotoxic effect of biologically synthesized silver nanoparticles against MCF-7 cancer cell lines were assessed. The cytotoxic effects of the silver nanoparticles could significantly inhibited MCF-7 cancer cell lines proliferation in a time and concentration-dependent manner by MTT assay. Acridine orange, ethidium bromide (AO/EB) dual staining, caspase-3 and DNA fragmentation assays were carried out using various concentrations of silver nanoparticles ranging from 1 to 100 μg/mL. At 100 μg/mL concentration, the...

Fate of Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles in Natural Waters and Immunotoxicity in Exposed Rainbow Trout ArchiMer
Gagnon, C.; Bruneau, Audrey; Turcotte, P.; Pilote, M.; Gagne, F..
Once released in the environment, engineered nanoparticles (NPs) can undergo important transformation resulting in changed properties under natural conditions. This study investigated the fate, the bioavailability and the immunotoxicity of cerium oxide (CeO2) nanoparticles in fish exposed to CeO2 in representative surface waters differing in pH, organic matter content and conductivity (green and brown waters). Following an incubation period of NP CeO2 in different surface waters, particle size distribution and shape were determined by ultrafiltration and ICP-mass spectrometry, electronic microscopy and dynamic light scattering (DSL). Bioaccumulation and effect biomarkers focusing on the immune system responses (viability of immune cells and phagocytic...

Paclitaxel and spirulina co-loaded polymeric nanoparticles: in-vitro and in-vivo anticancer study BJPS
Ravikumar,Yamuna; Catherine,Dorcas Pinky; Nair,Keerthi G. S; Sekar,Akshya; Velmurugan,Ramaiyan.
Paclitaxel spirulina nanoparticles were said to have promising anticancer activity against gastric cancer. Nanoparticles of paclitaxel-spirulina were prepared for treating gastric cancer using precipitation technique. The synergistic anticancer efficiency againstMKN45 cells retains when the paclitaxel and spirulina were encapsulated into nanoparticles. To increase the site specific delivery, intra-tumoral administration was carried in the in vivo evaluation. There was an increase in overall survival in an MKN45-transplanted mice model and notable improvement in anti-tumour efficacy when paclitaxel-spirulina nanoparticles were delivered through intra-tumoral administration. The further investigation of overall anticancer mechanism of these nanoparticles is...

Preparation and in vitro characterization of chitosan nanoparticles containing Mesobuthus eupeus scorpion venom as an antigen delivery system J. Venom. Anim. Toxins incl. Trop. Dis.
Mohammadpour Dounighi,N; Eskandari,R; Avadi,MR; Zolfagharian,H; Mir Mohammad Sadeghi,A; Rezayat,M.
Hydrophilic nanoparticles have been widely investigated in recent years as delivery systems for therapeutic macromolecules such as antigens. In the present study Mesobuthus eupeus venom-loaded chitosan nanoparticles were prepared via ionic gelation of tripolyphosphate (TPP) and chitosan. The optimum encapsulation efficiency (91.1%) and loading capacity (76.3%) were obtained by a chitosan concentration of 2 mg/mL, chitosan-to-TPP mass ratio of 2 and M. eupeus venom concentration of 500 µg/mL. The average nanoparticle size at optimum conditions was determined by Zetasizer (Malvern Instruments, UK). The nanoparticle size was about 370 nm (polydispersity index: 0.429) while the zeta potential was positive. Transmission electron microscope (TEM) imaging showed...

Preparation and physicochemical characterization of prazosin conjugated PLGA nanoparticles for drug delivery of flutamide BJPS
Fattahi,Ali; Ghiasi,Mansoureh; Mohammadi,Pardis; Hosseinzadeh,Leila; Adibkia,Khosro; Mohammadi,Ghobad.
In the current work, a sustained drug delivery system of flutamide (FLT) was developed using Poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) decorated bypoly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) grafted prazosin (PLGA-PEG-Praz) as a targeting moiety. In a multi-step reaction, PLGA was linked to PEG and prazosin. The structure of the synthesized polymers was confirmed by FTIR and 1H-NMR. Flutamide-loaded nanoparticles were prepared by quasi-emulsion solvent diffusion technique. The nanoparticles were evaluated for size, zeta potential, polydispersity index, drug crystallinity, loading efficiency, and release properties. Also, the physicochemical properties of the nanoparticles were analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Differential Scanning Calorimetry, and Powder...

Reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatography for quantification of hydroxymethylnitrofurazone in polymeric nanoparticles BJPS
Monteiro,Lis Marie; Tavares,Guilherme Diniz; Ferreira,Elizabeth Igne; Consiglieri,Vladi Olga; Bou-Chacra,Nadia Araci; Löbenberg,Raimar.
Hydroxymethylnitrofurazone (NFOH) is a new compound with potential leishmanicidal and trypanocidal activity. Despite its effectiveness, the formulators have to overcome its poor aqueous solubility. Recently, polymeric nano-scale drug delivery systems have proposed for the treatment of neglected diseases. As several studies have confirmed the advantages of such formulations, and this approach provides new analytical challenges, including the need to detect trace amounts of the drug. A suitable method was developed and validated for NFOH determination bound to poly (n-butylcyanoacrylate) (PBCA) nanoparticles. The chromatographic separation was achieved using a C18 column maintained at 25 ºC and an isocratic mobile phase consisting of water and acetonitrile:...
