The genus Microtypus Ratzeburg, 1848 (Braconidae: Microtypinae) is revised, its species are keyed, and a new species, M. petiolatus van Achterberg spec. nov. is described. The type species is redescribed and fully illustrated. The genus Similearinus Glowacki & Karpinski, 1967 is a new junior synonym of Microtypus; S. ilinskyi Glowacki & Karpiński, 1967 is a new junior synonym of Microtypus trigonus (Nees, 1834), and M. dioryctriae Rohwer, 1920 of M. wesmaelii Ratzeburg, 1848. For both senior synonyms neotypes are designated. The Malagasian species that have been placed in Microtypus are excluded and transferred to the genus Stantonia Ashmead, 1904. |

We review characteristics of birds in boreal forests in the context of their ecological sustainability under both natural and anthropogenic disturbances. We identify the underlying ecological factors associated with boreal bird populations and their variability, review the interactions between boreal bird populations and disturbance, and describe some tools on how boreal bird populations may be conserved in the future. The boreal system has historically been an area with extensive disturbance such as fire, insect outbreaks, and wind. In addition, the boreal system is vulnerable to global climate change as well as increasing pressure on forest and water resources. Current knowledge indicates that birds play an important role in boreal forests, and... |

ABSTRACT Triorla Parks has been reported from the Nearctic and Neotropical regions with 10 described species: T. ambigua (Macquart), T. argyrogaster (Macquart), T. demifasciata (Macquart), T. interrupta (Macquart), T. nervosa (Macquart), T. parastriola Pamplona & Aires, T. rubidiventris (Macquart), T. spinosa Tomasovic, T. striola (Fabricius), and T. trichina Tomasovic. Two species, T. striola and T. parastriola, have been recorded from Brazil. This paper describes four new species of Triorla from Brazil: T. beckeri sp. nov., T. milineae sp. nov., T. paraensis sp. nov., and T. spatulata sp. nov., and includes comments on the morphology of T. parastriola. An identification key to the species of Triorla is provided. |
