Design, construction and evaluation of preliminarily machine for removing sunflower seeds from the head using air-jet impingement CIGR Journal
Mirzabe, Amir Hossein; Chegini, Gholam Reza; Khazaei, Javad; Massah, Jafar.
To design a sunflower machine for removing seeds from sunflower head (SH) based on air-jet impingement, preliminarily model of such machine was designed, constructed and evaluated.  Effects of the seed location, angle of impingement, distance between nozzle outlet and sunflower head, and rotational velocity of sunflower head on percentage of extracted seeds were examined.  In order to examine the effects of air-jet parameters on percentage of removed seeds in different locations of seed on sunflower head, sunflower heads were divided into three regions, namely central region, middle region and side region.  Results indicated that in all three regions, with increasing rotational velocity from 10 to 30 rev/min, percentages of removed seeds from the SH...

Spray deposition on weeds of common bean crops Ciencia e Investigación Agraria
Rodrigues-Costa,Andreia C. P; Martins,Dagoberto; Costa,Neumárcio V; Pereira,Maria R. R.
Weed control failure in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) production may be related to inappropriate herbicide application techniques. The purpose of this study, therefore, was to evaluate the amount of spray solution deposition that occurred on the weeds, Bidens pilosa L. and Brachiaria plantaginea (Link) Hitch., both within and between rows of common beans. The research was arranged in a randomized block design with four replications. The following 6 spray nozzles were used: flat fan nozzles XR 110015 VS (150 L ha-1) and XR 11002 VS (200 L ha-1); cone nozzles TX VK 6 (150 L ha-1) and TX VK 8 (200 L ha-1); and twin flat fan nozzles TJ60 11002 VS (150 L ha-1) and TJ60 11002 VS (200 L ha-1). The results showed that the loss of the spray solution on the...

Using Variable Spray Angle Fan Nozzle on Long Spray Booms CIGR Journal
Ghasemzadeh, Hamid Reza; Humburg, Daniel.
Abstract. A new-concept of using variable spray angle fan spray nozzle in conjunction with pulse width modulation technique was proposed for compensation of the effects of spray boom vibration on chemical application rate and pattern. A brief review of literature regarding techniques used to diminish the effects of long spray booms dynamic behavior on uniformity of spray application reveals that the research work so far has mostly been involved boom positioning, vibration analysis, mathematical modeling and monitoring of boom dynamic behavior, in the hope of finding the ways of attenuation of vibration through improving the design of better boom structure, suspension, and control systems. The present article puts forward the idea of using Variable Spray...
