Copper use efficiency in soybean cultivars PAB
Moreira,Adônis; Moraes,Larissa Alexandra Cardoso; Nogueira,Thiago Assis Rodrigues; Canizella,Bruna Trovo.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of copper use efficiency in soybean cultivars, grown on a typical Ultisol with a high organic matter content, on soil chemical properties and on plant grain yield, nutritional state, and physiological components. The experiment was carried out in greenhouse conditions, in a 5×4 factorial arrangement, with five soybean cultivars (TMG 1066RR, BRS 360RR, NA 6262RR, BMX Turbo RR, and BRS 359RR) and four Cu rates (0, 2, 4, and 8 mg kg-1). Under the studied soil conditions, the DTPA-TEA and Mehlich-1 extractants were efficient in determining available Cu in the soil. Regardless of the cultivars, Cu application increased grain yield (GY), shoot dry weight yield (SDWY), number of pods per pot, GY/SDWY...

Do river discharge rates drive the overall functioning of the pelagic ecosystem over the continental shelf of the Bay of Biscay (NE Atlantic)? A comparison of two contrasting years with special reference to anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus L.) nutritional state ArchiMer
Bergeron, Jean-pierre; Delmas, Daniel; Koueta, Noussithe.
In the 2000 and 2001 springtime periods, mesozooplankton samples were systematically taken during research cruises devoted to the study of the distribution and abundance of small pelagic fishes in the French part of the Bay of Biscay, NE Atlantic, continental shelf. Simultaneous activities of three enzymes were measured in these mesozooplankton samples, to characterize the main features of ecosystem function at a regional scale. The aim was to assess assimilation rates of carbohydrates, through pyruvate kinase activity, and protein, through trypsin activity, by the mesozooplankton community and the resulting overall productivity, through aspartate transcarbamylase activity. The highest influence on the pelagic environment was the strong difference in the...

Spatial variability of soil properties and cotton yield in the Brazilian Cerrado AGRIAMBI
Motomiya,Anamari V. A; Molin,José P; Motomiya,Wagner R; Vieira,Sidney R.
This research aimed at assessing the spatial variability and relationships between factors that affect cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) yield. Plant and soil data were collected by a 90 ha area divided in a regular grid of 100 m. In order to detect the variation at small scale, more intense samplings were made with spacing of 33 m, resulting in 5 "clusters" and totalizing 170 samples. Data were submitted to descriptive statistical analysis, geostatistic and interpolation through ordinary kriging. Variability expressed by the coefficient of variation was from low to moderate for all the variables except for retained bolls and soil P content. Geostatistical analysis indicated that most cotton yield factors presented spatial dependence and this should be...
