| RESUMO: O presente trabalho teve como objetivo caracterizar o cenário atual das coleções botânicas de Mato Grosso do Sul, buscando contribuir para o direcionamento de ações visando uma melhor documentação da flora do estado. Informações sobre o número de exsicatas depositadas nos herbários de Mato Grosso do Sul foram obtidas através de consulta direta aos seus respectivos curadores ou adquirido no banco de dados do Centro de Referência em Informação Ambiental (CRIA). Foram encontrados 150.360 exemplares coletados no Mato Grosso do Sul e um índice de 0,41 coletas/km² para o estado. Para que o Mato Grosso do Sul alcance apenas a média nacional de coletas seriam necessários aproximadamente 210.000 exemplares, cerca de 60.000 a mais do que já foi coletado.... |

| Genetic diversity and relationships within and among nine species of Coffea, one species of Psilanthus and the Piata? hybrid from the Coffee Germplasm Collection of Instituto Agronômico de Campinas (IAC), Brazil were assessed using RAPD markers. Genetic diversity and relationships were evaluated by proportion of polymorphic loci (P), Shannon?s genetic index (H0 and G0 ST) and clustering analysis. The overall RAPD variation among all accessions was mostly partitioned between rather than within species. However, C. canephora and C. liberica showed a high genetic diversity within the species (H0 sp = 0.414 and H0 sp = 0.380, espectively) and this was highly structured (high G0 ST). | A Red List assessment is insufficient to determine priorities for ex situ conservation in large genera such as Rhododendron, where there may be hundreds of taxa in any one Red List category. We have utilised an analysis of the geographic origins of 1?215 taxa of Rhododendron (Ericaceae) as a method to prioritise Red List taxa for ex situ conservation. This analysis includes descriptions of distribution and endemism by country of origin, analysis of the incidence of the 715 Red List taxa by country of origin, and determination of the extent to which taxa from each country of origin are in cultivation.
