Comparison of the protocols for obtaining platelet-rich plasma in dogs: a cellular study Ciência Rural
Vidal Júnior,André William Masseaux; Silva,Ricardo Siqueira da; Marques,Ana Paula Lopes; Souza,Heloísa Justen Moreira de.
ABSTRACT: This study aimed to evaluate two protocols (PA and PB) that are used to obtain canine platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for cellularity. Twenty healthy dogs were used. Blood samples were collected and placed in two tubes of 3.2% sodium citrate. PA used double centrifugation at 210 x g, and 370 x g and PB used double centrifugation with 140 x g and 330 x g. The PRP samples from the protocols were examined in terms of their platelet, erythrocyte, and leukocyte count in the Neubauer chamber, differential leukocyte count and platelet morphological observation in blood smears. Data (mean and standard deviation) were analyzed with the 95% probability t-test (P <0.05) using Pearson’s correlation to test the relationship between platelets and erythrocytes,...

Enhancement of abdominal wall defect repair using allogenic platelet-rich plasma with commercial polyester/cotton fabric (Damour) in a canine model OAK

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has an important role in musculoskeletal surgery; however, it has been underutilized for accelerating the healing of abdominal wall defects in veterinary practice. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the use of commercial polyester/cotton fabric (Damour) as a new composite mesh for the repair of experimentally induced abdominal wall defects in canine models, and to investigate the possible role of PRP for improving such repair and reducing allied complications. For this purpose, abdominal wall defects were created in 24 healthy mongrel dogs and then repaired with mesh alone (control group) or mesh and allogenic PRP (PRP group). Dogs were euthanized after 2 or 4 months for gross examination of implantation site,...

Evaluation of the Effect of Platelet-Rich Plasma on Alveolar Wound Healing in Rats International Journal of Morphology
Yamamoto,Marcos Kazuo; Novelli,Moacyr Domingos; Corrêa,Luciana; de Sousa,Suzana Cantanhede M; Luz,João Gualberto C.
Opinions about the clinical utility of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) vary, as a large number of experimental studies have questioned its efficacy. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of PRP on experimental alveolar wound healing in rats. Fifty young adult male Wistar rats were divided in control and PRP groups and submitted to extraction of the right maxillary incisor. In the PRP group, blood was collected by cardiac puncture, and the socket was filled with a PRP gel. Animals were euthanized after 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days. Histological and histomorphometric analyses were performed at each experimental time point. Semiquantitative histological analysis showed that the PRP group exhibited significantly more collagen-matrix deposition and less...
