A meta-analysis of dry matter intake in Nellore and Zebu-crosses cattle R. Bras. Zootec.
Azevêdo,José Augusto Gomes; Valadares Filho,Sebastião de Campos; Pina,Douglas dos Santos; Chizzotti,Mario Luiz; Valadares,Rilene Ferreira Diniz.
The study was carried out to develop and to evaluate new equations to predict dry matter intake (DMI) of Nellore and Zebu-crosses cattle using meta-analysis procedure. The data used to estimate the parameters were collected from independent performance experiments using growing and fattening Nellore and Zebu-crosses cattle, and they were compiled from 561 experimental units. Before proposing an equation to predict DMI, it was observed that the genetic group was a source of statisticaly significant variation. Therefore, equations to predict dry matter intake in the Zebu-Crosses and Nellore cattle were independently developed. The regression equations for Zebu-crosses cattle were: DMI = -2.6098 + 0.08844BW0.75 + 4.4672ADG - 1.3579ADG2 and DMI = -1.0094 +...

Digestibility and net energy prediction of rice by products determined with piglets Ciência Rural
Schirmann,Graciele Dalise; Rocha,Leonardo Tombesi da; Muniz,Henrique da Costa Mendes; Kunzler,Josué Sebastiany; Kuhn,Micheli Faccin; Oliveira,Vladimir de.
ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to determine the chemical composition, digestibility, and net energy (NE) of broken rice (BRR), stabilized rice bran (SRB), and parboiled rice bran (PRB) for piglets. Two digestibility trials were performed with 12 and 18 male pigs with initial weights of 8 and 16kg, respectively. We performed total fecal collection using ferric oxide as fecal marker. The digestibility coefficients of organic matter, crude protein, and gross energy were higher (P<0.001) for the BRR compared to the SRB and PRB. The PRB presented a digestible energy 2% lower than that of BR and 5% higher than that of SRB. For BRR, average NE value was 3,228kcal/kg dry matter (DM), and the difference between the lower and higher value was 311kcal/kg DM....

Estimativas de ingestão voluntária a partir das características de degradação do capim-coastcross (Cynodon dactylon L. Pers.), sob pastejo, por vacas em lactação. Repositório Alice
BERCHIELLI, T. T.; SOARES, J. P. G.; AROEIRA, L. J. M.; FURLAN, C. L.; SALMAN, A. K. D.; SILVEIRA, R. N. da; MALHEIROS, E. B..

Metabolizable energy and amino acids relationships with the soluble fractions of protein and fiber of vegetable feed ingredients R. Bras. Zootec.
Bellaver,Claudio; Zanotto,Dirceu Luís; Guidoni,Antônio Lourenço; Brum,Paulo Antônio R. de.
To estimate nutrient and energy digestion with animal from in vitro variables it is necessary to control factors that may interfere on digestion such as: source and concentration of digestor substance, as well as the origin and processing of test ingredients. In this study there were performed five laboratory assays, two with poultry and finally regression equations were established based on variables generated with twelve vegetable ingredients. The results showed that there is greater solubility of proteins with NaOH than with KOH. On average, both alkali produced better discrimination of soluble protein with concentration of 0.02% (range of 68.61%) in relation to a concentration of 0.2% (range of 37.97%). Considering interaction between alkali and...

Predicting the metabolizable energy of first and second corn harvests for piglets Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Esteves,Lucas Antonio Costa; Oliveira,Newton Tavares Escocard de; Huepa,Laura Marcela Diaz; Ferreira,Silvia Letícia; Castilha,Leandro Dalcin; Pozza,Paulo Cesar.
ABSTRACT Corn is one of the primary ingredients in swine diets, but there is a variation in its chemical composition and metabolizable energy (ME) content. Therefore, faster methods are required that can determine more accurate ME values to improve piglet diets. This study determined and predicted the ME of corn from first and second harvests for piglets. Two experiments were conducted to determine the ME values for 18 corn batches, evaluating corn from first and second harvests. The corn batches were analysed to determine the concentration of dry matter (DM), starch (ST), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), ash, calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P) and gross energy (GE). To determine the ME values, 40...

ABSTRACT: Successful mitigation efforts entail accurate estimation of on-farm emission and prediction models can be an alternative to current laborious and costly in vivo CH4 measurement techniques. This study aimed to: (1) collate a database of individual dairy cattle CH4 emission data from studies conducted in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region; (2) identify key variables for predicting CH4 production (g d−1) and yield [g kg−1 of dry matter intake (DMI)]; (3) develop and cross-validate these newly-developed models; and (4) compare models' predictive ability with equations currently used to support national greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories. A total of 42 studies including 1327 individual dairy cattle records were collated....

Swine carcasses classified by degree of exudation and marbling content. Repositório Alice
BERTOL, T. M.; COLDEBELLA, A.; SANTOS FILHO, J. I. dos; GUIDONI, A. L..
The objective of this work was to develop and evaluate prediction equations, based on measurements obtained on the slaughter line, for carcass classification according to the degree of exudation and the content of marbling. A total of 747 pig carcasses originated from 27 producers were randomly selected on the slaughter line at two slaughterhouses, constituting representative samples from each one. Hot carcass weight, loin depth, back fat thickness, and pH and temperature 45 min after slaughter were used to generate the equations. The carcasses were classified as normal or exudative for drip loss of loin and ham, and as acceptable or undesirable for marbling content. For drip loss of loin and ham, respectively, the overall correct classification of the...
