Se evaluaron polvos vegetales de Chenopodium ambrosioides L., Chenopodium album L. y Chenopodium quinoa Willd. para el control de Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky, bajo condiciones de laboratorio. Los parámetros evaluados fueron mortalidad y emergencia de insectos adultos, pérdida de peso y germinación de los granos, efecto ovicida y larvicida, fumigación, repelencia y residualidad de los polvos. El diseño experimental fue completamente al azar, con un arreglo factorial y tres repeticiones. La mayor mortalidad de insectos se obtuvo con los polvos de la inflorescencia y la mezcla de hojas y tallos de Chenopodium ambrosioides L., al 2% (p/p) con valores de 69,4% y 67,9% respectivamente. Este trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de avaliar o desenvolvimento e a produtividade de Quinoa variedade BRS-Piabiru semeada em diferentes datas dentro do período safrinha, em Campo Mourão, PR. Foram avaliadas seis datas de semeadura, a saber: 18/03/08, 02/04/08, 17/04/08, 02/05/08, 17/05/08 e 10/06/08. Os índices da cultura avaliados foram número de dias para a floração; número de dias para a maturação; altura das plantas na maturação e produtividade. A experimentação pioneira com Chenopodium quinoa Willd tem demonstrado sua adaptabilidade à produção de grãos no cerrado. Seus frutos, do tipo aquênio, são cilíndricos, achatados e germinam rapidamente na presença de umidade, após a maturação fisiológica. Na fase inicial do seu desenvolvimento, a quinoa pode ser confundida com a planta daninha Chenopodium album, conhecida no Brasil como ançarinha-branca. Se describen los efectos de la UV-B sobre la síntesis de pigmentos fotosintéticos (clorofila total, clorofila a, clorofila b, carotenoides), protectores (compuestos absorbentes de UV-B) y azúcares solubles (glucosa, fructosa y sacarosa) en cinco variedades de quinoa de diferentes orígenes geográficos. En general, se demuestra que las variedades reaccionan desplegando diferentes estrategias para protegerse de la radiación UV-B. The present study was focused on the analysis of agronomical, nutritional, physicochemical, and antioxidant properties of six genetically different quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd) genotypes cultivated in three distinctive geographical zones of Chile. Ancovinto and Cancosa genotypes from the northern Altiplano (19 ºS), Cáhuil and Faro from the central region (34 ºS), and Regalona and Villarica from the southern region (39 ºS) are representative of high genetic differentiation among the pooled samples, in particular between Altiplano and the central-southern groups. Drying kinetics of quinoa-supplemented feed for laboratory rats during processing at 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90ºC was studied and modeled in this work. Desorption isotherm was obtained at 60ºC giving a monolayer moisture content of 0.04 g water/g d.m. The experimental drying curves showed that drying process took place only in the falling rate period. Several thin-layer drying equations available in the literature were evaluated based on determination coefficient (r²), sum squared errors (SSE) and Chi-square (χ2) statisticals. This study explored the diversity of the quinoa crop in Chile from a nutritional perspective. Nutritional properties, minerals, vitamins, and saponin content were assessed in seeds of six Chilean quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) ecotypes grown in three main production areas with distinctive climatic and edaphic conditions: Ancovinto and Cancosa in the North-Altiplano or High Plateau, Cáhuil and Faro in the central coastal area, and Regalona and Villarrica in the south of the country. Abstract The study aimed to assess the influence of quinoa flour of different particle size and degree of wheat flour replacement on dough and bread characteristics. Dynamic rheology and farinographs were used to describe the dough parameters. Specific volume, texture, porosity, color, overall quality and chemical assessment were performed as well. It could be observed that the degree of wheat flour substitution by quinoa flour significantly influenced the G’ and G” values in linear and quadratic terms (p ≤ 0.01 and p ≤ 0.05).
