The genetic coefficients, representative of a crop, are necessary to use growth models; in many cases the range of the species is known, but there are no specific values for varieties. Durum wheat (Triticum turgidumL. ssp. durum)'Llareta-INIA' and 'Corcolén-INIA' were sown under irrigation in the experiment station Antumapu of the Universidad de Chile on 29 June 2007, 19 May 2009, and 15 June 2010 in order to determinate four genetic coefficients: developmental thermal time, phyllochron (PHLN), extinction coefficient (k), and radiation use efficiency (RUE), and to evaluate the performance of these coefficients. O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar o índice de clorofi las a e b e a área foliar de genótipos de macieira (Malus domestica, Borkh.) cultivados com e sem sombreamento no Vale do São Francisco. O experimento foi realizado no Campo Experimental de Bebedouro, pertencente à Embrapa Semiárido, Petrolina, PE. Foram utilizadas folhas de macieiras sadias, maduras e completamente expandidas de dois genótipos, ?Julieta? e ?Monalisa?. As plantas foram cultivas sob tela de sombreamento com radiação solar global de 10 MJ m-2 dia-1 (50% de redução na radiação solar global), ou sem tela com radiação solar global de 20 MJ m-2 dia-1. Abstract: Despite its economic importance, the microclimate in soybean canopies has not yet been studied in detail. Such a study can yield valuable information regarding the interaction of a crop with its environment. In this context, the aim of this study was to evaluate the solar radiation dynamic and yield responses for each canopy strata for two soybean cultivars with determined and undetermined growth habits. Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the ef? ciency of soybean (Glycine max) in intercepting and using solar radiation under natural ? eld conditions, in the Amazon region, Brazil. The meteorological data and the values of soybean growth and leaf area were obtained from an agrometeorological experiment carried out in Paragominas, Pará state, during 2007 and 2008.
