The aim of this study was to evaluate the calcium dosage of the newly formed bone, in critical bone defects created on the calvarial tissue and filled by different substances, in male Wistar rats. A cylindrical critical bone defect (6x2mm) was created in the posterior portion, left side, on the calvarial bone in nine animals and filled with: animals' coagulum, monoolein gel, poloxamer gel, monoolein gel + 1µg rhBMP-2, monoolein gel + 3µg rhBMP-2, monoolein gel + 7µg rhBMP-2, poloxamer gel + 1µg rhBMP-2, poloxamer gel + 3µg rhBMP-2, poloxamer gel + 7µg rhBMP-2. Avaliou-se a utilização de células-tronco mononucleares (CTM) na cicatrização de defeito ósseo experimental como alternativa aos métodos convencionais, analisando-se o tempo de evolução cicatricial e a presença dessas células no tecido neoformado. Foram utilizados 18 cães, separados em três grupos (G) de seis, e de cada animal foram colhidas células da medula óssea (MO), contadas e analisadas para morfometria, por meio da contagem manual e mielograma. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the newly formed bone, comparing two different carriers for rhBMP-2, using the decortication and nondecorticatication surgical technique in Wistar rat mandibles, evaluated by radiographic densitometry method. It was used fifty six animals according to specific treatment, which were sacrificed after 3 and 6 weeks after this. It was concluded that the decortication surgical technique was able to optimize the osteoinduction properties of the rhBMP-2, independently of the material carrier used and the period of time, according to radiographic densitometry technique. |

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of monoolein gel as a carrier for rhBMP-2 in the healing bone process of critical bone defects created in Wistar rats mandibles using digitalized radiographic method to analyze this process. In the group 1, the rhBMP-2 was dissolved in aqueous solution and in the group 2, the rhBMP-2 was combined with monoolein gel as a carrier. The results showed that in both of groups it was found efficient bone repair, with a great optical density in the group that the rhBMP-2 was combined with the monoolein gel, but without statistical difference between them |

La proteína morfogenética ósea (BMP), es una proteína endógena que ha mostrado efectos significativos en la promoción de la formación ósea. El uso de BMP ha sido descrito en la reconstrucción de defectos óseos de origen traumáticos y patológicos, incluyendo la fisura alveolar, el aumento de reborde alveolar, la elevación de seno maxilar, el injerto de alveolo post-extracción, y la cirugía perimplantaria entre otros.
