El empleo de bacterias solubilizadoras de fosfato (BSP) para la solubilización de distintas rocas fosfatadas y de otras fuentes de fósforo es una alternativa para incrementar la cantidad de P disponible para las plantas. Se aislaron 147 BSP de la raíz y rizoplano de diferentes plantas cultivadas. El medio de cultivo denominado Medio Mínimo para Solubilización de Fosfato Colegio de Postgraduados con MgCl (MMSFCP-Mg) fue el más eficiente, debido a que en medio sólido se observaron halos de solubilización de hasta 3.8 cm a los catorce días, y en medio líquido se determinaron hasta 380 mg mL-1 de fosfato soluble a los seis días. In grape production, cover crops play a key role in soil protection and nutrient cycling. Thus, since grapevine requirements for P are low, adequate management of cover crops may provide sufficient P for growth. This paper evaluates the effect of black oats, as a cover plant, on the P solubilization in rock phosphate and its availability to the vine cultivated in succession. To test this hypothesis, we evaluated the plants growth parameters and P uptake in grapevines grown in succession to black oats in pots in a greenhouse experiment. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a eficiência agronômica de um fertilizante mineral misto produzido com fosfato natural sedimentar adicionado de calcário e borra de enxofre, comparado com o fertilizante superfosfato simples. O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação sendo realizados três cultivos sucessivos na seguinte sequência: milho, feijão, milho. As plantas foram cultivadas em vasos plásticos contendo 3 kg de solo classificado como Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo. Effect of Cover Crops, Lime and Rock Phosphate on Maize (Zea mays L.) in an Acidic Soil of Northern Guinea Savanna of Nigeria JARTS

Phosphorus deficiency is the major constraint to maize production in acidic soil of Heipang (9°38’, 8°53’) in Northern Guinea Savanna of Nigeria. The soil is high in sesquioxides and soluble aluminum and has high phosphate sorption capacity. To address this problem, a field trial was conducted between 1996-1997 to assess the responses of six tropical cover crops and maize to lime and applied rock phosphate and to evaluate the effect of these treatments on the performance and P nutrition of succeeding maize. Non-conventional P sources for zebu cows in Brazil Scientia Agricola

To evaluate non-conventional phosphorus sources, a group of 400 Nellore cows mantained under pasture received a mineral mixture with different P sources (group I: superphosphate - 500 ppm P; group II: superphosphate - 340 ppm P plus rock phosphate Patos 160 ppm P; group III: superphosphate 340 ppm P plus dicalcium phosphate 160 ppm P; group IV - dicalcium phosphate 500 ppm P). There were no differences in pregnancy rate, calving rate and calving interval. A fluorine deposition in bone was observed for the treatments with superphosphate and rock phosphate (66.92 ± 15.53; 69.97 ± 6.5 and 64.05 ± 3.35% respectively for group I, II and III).
