EFFECT OF SHOOT AND BUNCH DENSITY ON YIELD AND QUALITY OF ‘SUGRAONE’ AND ‘THOMPSON SEEDLESS’ TABLE GRAPES Rev. Bras. Frutic.
LEÃO,PATRÍCIA COELHO DE SOUZA; LIMA,MARIA AUXILIADORA COELHO DE.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the effect of shoot and bunch density through thinning practices on yield components and quality of ‘Thompson Seedless’ and ‘Sugraone’ grapevines in the São Francisco River valley. The experiments were carried out during two growing seasons (2010 and 2012) in commercial vineyards of Lagoa Grande, state of Pernambuco, Brazil. Treatments were a split plot represented by three shoot densities and three bunch densities in a random block design. The yield of ‘Thompson Seedless’ grapevine was up to 25.9% higher in plants kept with 6 bunches.m-2, reaching 20.7 and 27.0 kg.plant-1, in the 2010 and 2012 crop years, respectively. Although effects on yield were not observed in ‘Sugraone’ cultivar, bunch and berry mass was higher...

Influence of grape genotype, ripening season, seed trace size, and culture date on in ovule embryo development and plant formation Bragantia
Pommer,Celso V.; Ramming,David W.; Emershad,Richard L..
Eighteen seedless grape genotypes differing in ripening season (early, mid and late) and in seed trace size (small, medium and large) were harvested at 6, 10, 14, 18 and 22 weeks past bloom (wpb). Using embryo rescue techniques it was studied if embryo do abort as the fruit matures and what percent embryos remain viable at later stages. The size of seed trace was also investigated to determine its influence on embryo viability during maturation. It was found that genotype have great influence on embryo culture traits. Late maturing genotypes showed fewer rescued embryos, germinated embryos and transplantable plants than early and mid season ones. The best culture time for grape embryo rescue is 6 and 10 wpb. At these dates, the largest number of embryos,...

Quality and antioxidant potential of ‘BRS clara’ and ‘Arizul’ grapes influenced by rootstocks in a tropical region Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Brito,Alanne Lucena de; Bonfim,Wilyanne Monique Danôa; Andrade Neto,Eugenio Ribeiro de; Lima,Maria Auxiliadora Coêlho de.
ABSTRACT Seedless table grapes cultivars have been studied in the Sub-middle region of São Francisco Valley at northeast Brazil. For that region, it is important to identify cultivars with productive potential, better quality and efficiency, minimizing the expenses in terms of inputs and workforce, when compared to traditional cultivars. Specifically, the objective of this study was to determine the influence of different rootstocks on the quality and on the antioxidant potential of BRS Clara and Arizul table grapes cultivars of two production cycles. The experimental area belongs to the Experimental Field of Bebedouro/Embrapa Semiárido, located in the sub-middle region of São Francisco Valley, in Petrolina - PE, northeast Brazil. Both BRS Clara and Arizul...

Rootstocks for the new seedless table grape ‘BRS Vitória’ under tropical semi-arid conditions of São Francisco Valley Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Leão,Patrícia Coelho de Souza; Nascimento,José Henrique Bernardino do; Moraes,Dayane Silva de; Souza,Edimara Ribeiro de.
ABSTRACT ‘BRS Vitoria’ is the most important Brazilian table grape cultivar in the domestic and foreign markets, standing out for the seedleness, pleasant flavor, high yield and mildew resistance. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of the rootstock on the yield, production components, vigor, and physical and chemical characteristics of the ‘BRS Vitória’ grape under irrigation in the Brazilian semi-arid region. The experiment was conducted over eight consecutive production cycles in the period from 2015 to 2018 in a commercial area in the Senador Nilo Coelho project, Petrolina, PE. The treatments were represented by seven rootstocks: ‘IAC 572’, ‘IAC 766’, ‘IAC 313’, ‘Harmony’, ‘SO4’, ‘Paulsen 1103’, and ‘Freedom’, using a randomized...
