Avaliação de índices como rerramenta de seleção em provas de ganho de peso no estado do Acre. Repositório Alice

O estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a eficácia de quatro índices de seleção dentro de uma prova de ganho de peso a pasto no estado do Acre, levando em consideração índices com maior ponderação para parâmetros reprodutivos, ponderais ou parâmetros morfológicos visuais. Não houve diferença significativa a 5% entre os índices de seleção, quanto às características de pesos ajustados aos 240 e 365 dias. Para as características de pesos ajustados aos 500, 550 e 610 dias, houve diferença significativa a 5% de probabilidade, mostrando que todos os índices foram eficazes na separação dos animais nas categorias propostas. The objective of this study was to calculate economic values for milk (MY), protein (PY) and fat productions (FY) and somatic cell count (SCC) which could be used to compose an economic index to rank animals involved in an international genetic evaluation program of Holstein cattle used in the commercial dairy population in Brazil. The main milk production systems (MPS) prevailing in the South and Southeast were defined based on the feeding management and production level of herds. Se obtuvieron los estimados de heredabilidad y las correlaciones genéticas y fenotípicas de producción de leche, reproducción y conformación con la vida productiva, real y funcional, a los 72 meses de edad en cabras lecheras utilizando el modelo animal. The methodology available for evaluating the cooking quality of dry beans is impractical for assessing a large number of progenies. The aims of this study were to propose a new strategy for evaluating cooking quality of grains and to estimate genetic and phenotypic parameters using a selection index. A total of 256 progenies of the 13thcycle of a recurrent selection program were evaluated at three locations for yield, grain type, and cooked grains. Samples of grains from each progeny were placing in a cooker and the percentage of cooked grains was assessed. The continuous gains in cycles of recurrent selection have raised disagreement among researchers. Two hundred and forty-two full-sib families were obtained from CIMMYT and Piranão populations and evaluated in a simple lattice design in two environments to estimate the response to selection in the 11th cycle of the UENF reciprocal recurrent selection program. No genotype x environment interaction was observed for most of the traits evaluated, indicating that a single recurrent selection program can be conducted for both sites. The population studied exhibited wide genotypic variability and heritability estimates ranged from 33 to 73%, indicating prospects of selection gain for the following cycles.
