Conti,Lessandro De; Ceretta,Carlos Alberto; Couto,Rafael da Rosa; Ferreira,Paulo Ademar Avelar; Silva,Lincon Oliveira Stefanello da; Piccin,Rogério; Lourenzi,Cledimar Rogério; Girotto,Eduardo; Brunetto,Gustavo.
Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of pig slurry applications on the exchangeable Al content, activity, and distribution of Al chemical species in the soil solution. Soil samples of a Typic Hapludalf were obtained from an experiment conducted during eight years, with 19 applications of 0, 20, 40, and 80 m3 ha-1 pig slurry. The soil samples were collected in stratified layers to determine exchangeable Al content and to extract the soil solution by the saturated soil paste method. The concentrations of the main cations and anions, dissolved organic carbon, and pH in the soil solution were determined. The distribution of the chemical species of Al and the activity of the Al3+ species were obtained through the Visual Minteq...

CALCIUM NITRATE CONCENTRATIONS IN FERTIGATION FOR ‘TERRA’ BANANA PRODUCTION REA
Andrade Neto,Torquato M. De; Coelho,Eugênio F.; Silva,Ana Carina P. Da.
ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of calcium nitrate concentration of irrigation water on soil chemical attributes and productivity during the first ‘Terra’ banana crop cycle. The experiment followed a completely randomized design with six treatments and five replications, with six plants per plot. Treatments consisted in the use of three calcium nitrate concentrations (3.0, 10.0 and 13.0 g.L−1), applied via dripping and micro-micro-sprinkling irrigation. The results showed that the soil chemical properties under fertigation are influenced by the water and nutrient delivery system. There was a linear tendency of increase in electrical conductivity of the saturation extract and soil solution with the increase in calcium nitrate...

Cation exchange capacity of an oxisol amended with an effluent from domestic sewage treatment Scientia Agricola
Fonseca,Adriel Ferreira da; Alleoni,Luís Reynaldo Ferracciú; Melfi,Adolpho José; Montes,Célia Regina.
The addition of Na-rich anthropogenic residues to tropical soils has stimulated the scientific community to study the role of sodium in both the soil solution and the exchange complex. In this study, several different methods were used to calculate the concentration of exchangeable and soluble cations and this data was then used to establish correlations between the level of these cations and both the accumulation of various elements and the dry weight of maize grown in a greenhouse under different conditions. In the closed environments of the pots, the most suitable method for calculating the effective cation exchange capacity (ECEC) was the cation exchange capacity calculated by cations removed with barium chloride solution (CEC S). Then again, the...

Corn growth and changes of soil and root parameters as affected by phosphate fertilizers and liming. Repositório Alice
ERNANI, P.R.; BARBER, S.A..
Soil and root parameters that influence nutrient uptake were evaluated in this study of comparing the effectiveness of phosphate fertilizers in an acid soil. North Carolina rock phosphate (RP), partially acidulated Togo rock phosphate (PA), monocalcium phosphate (MCP), and diammonium phosphate (DAP) were applied to limed (pH 5,6) or unlimed (pH4,6) soil samples. Eighteen days later, transplanted corn (Zea mays L.) seedlings were grown in pots for 12 days. Soluble phosphates, DAP and MCP, were the most efficient fertilizers for increasing corn dry matter on limed pots; in absernce of limestone, the best yield was obained with DAP because it decreased soil solution A1. Phosphorus in the soil solution (Pli) was lower on limed than on unlimed samples, but...

Emergence and growth of corn and soybean under saline stress Scientia Agricola
Blanco,Flávio Favaro; Folegatti,Marcos Vinícius; Gheyi,Hans Raj; Fernandes,Pedro Dantas.
Emergence and seedling growth may be severely affected by salinity, mainly for sensitive crops. The objective of the present study was to verify the tolerance of corn and soybean to the irrigation water salinity (ECi) during the emergence and initial development stages. Seeds of corn, hybrid 'AG-6690', and soybean, cv. 'Conquista', were sown in pots containing material from a sandy-loam soil and irrigated with water of increasing salinity levels, from 0.3 to 5.9 dS m-1, giving nine levels of ECi obtained by the addition of an equivalent proportion of sodium and calcium chloride, except for ECi = 0.3 dS m-1 (tap water). Emergence of corn was not affected by salinity but seedling development was reduced for ECi above 1.5 dS m-1. Emergence and growth of...

Lime and calcium-magnesium silicate in the ionic speciation of an Oxisol Scientia Agricola
Antonangelo,João Arthur; Ferrari Neto,Jayme; Crusciol,Carlos Alexandre Costa; Alleoni,Luís Reynaldo Ferracciú.
ABSTRACT Plant residues and certain fertilizers accelerate soil acidification and increase the levels of aluminum-Al+3 in soils under no-tillage (NT). Silicates act as acidity amendments and as a source of silicon as in H4SiO4. An increase in the pH of soil solution causes the deprotonation of H4SiO4 and generates the anionic form (H3SiO4−). The aim of this study was to evaluate the ionic speciation of Si, Al, Ca, Mg and K in aqueous extracts by means of a software calculation. Since 2006, a field experiment has been under way on an Oxisol under NT subjected to lime and calcium-magnesium silicate applications under four crop systems. The amendments were applied in Oct 2006 and in Oct 2011, aiming to raise base saturation to 70 %. Soil samples were...
