The invasive behaviour of sourgrass (Digitaria insularis) in cultivated areas is due to its strategy of aggressive regeneration, which is based on seed germination. Knowledge of the physiological ecology of this species can contribute to the development of management and control strategies. The aim of this research was to understand the effects of provenance, temperature and light on the germination of sourgrass seeds collected in the Brazilian state of São Paulo in the cities of Americana, Botucatu and São José do Rio Preto and in the state of Paraná in the city of São Miguel do Iguaçu. Growth and Development of Digitaria insularis Biotypes Susceptible and Resistant to Glyphosate Planta Daninha

ABSTRACT The study aimed to evaluate the growth and development of biotypes of Digitaria insularis susceptible and resistant to glyphosate. Samples of biotypes were collected in Western Paraná in Cascavel, one susceptible (24o57'29.06" S and 53o30'23.73" W) and one resistant (24o54'54.99" S and 53o30'08.55" W; with Resistance Factor of 2.96). The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with four replications. ABSTRACT: The intensive use of glyphosate can select resistant populations. This study aimed at evaluating the occurrence of glyphosate resistance in populations of D. insularis in agricultural areas. 臺灣兩耳草分離的玉米矮化嵌紋病毒之分類特性 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]從兩耳草(sourgrass,Paspalum conjugatum)上分離出來的一個甘蔗嵌紋病毒分離株(SCMV–Sou),經接種試驗,可以感染強生草(johnsongrass,Sorghum hale-pense),不感染甘蔗“CP31-294”,因此認為SCMV–Sou是一種玉米矮化嵌紋病毒A型系統(MDMV–A)。比較其與玉米矮化嵌紋病毒B型系統(MDMV–B)及甘蔗嵌紋病毒D型系統(SCMV–D)對判別寄主的反應,結果各型病毒都不感染燕麥、大麥、及小麥等。接種高粱“Atlas”、“BTX398”、“NM31”及“Rio”等品種,亦可由病徵反應判別病毒類型。經測定MDMV–A之耐熱性(TIP)為50-55°C,耐稀釋性(DEP)為10-4-10-5,耐保存性(LIV)為1-2天。將病毒純化,進行膠體電泳分析測定鞘蛋白分子量為45.1K。並製成抗血清,進行免疫擴散試驗,雖有交互反應但可以區分MDMV–A、MDMV–B、及SCMV,利用免疫電子顯微鏡觀察,MDMV–A經不同的病毒系統抗體捕捉與飾染,其鑑別的效果並不顯著,唯可明白看出長絲狀的病毒架構。以夾層抗體法進行酵素聯結抗體免疫分析,其間各型病毒抗血清經由異源抗原交互吸收,則可有效鑑別各型病毒系統。 A virus (SCMV-Sou) isolated from naturally occuring sourgrass (Paspalum conjugatum) in Taiwan was identified as maize dwarf mosaic virus strain A (MDMV-A).
