In Brazil, the greengrocery market of sweet corn has been expanding along the country. In contrast, there have been few agri-industries canning sweet corn (Zea mays) because of the lack of cultivars with agronomic characteristics proper to industrial purposes. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the general combining ability (GCA) of seven inbred lines of sweet corn, and the specific combining ability (SCA) of their hybrid combinations based on their agronomic traits, and the chemical composition of the grain. A capacidade geral (CGC) e a capacidade especifica de combinacao (CEC), entre duas linhagens macho-estereis (mae) e um grupo de sete linhagens S4 restauradoras de fertilidade (pai), foram estimadas para estudar o potencial desses materiais em programas de melhoramento de girassol (Helianthus annuus L.). O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar os efeitos genéticos aditivos e não aditivos sobre a eficiência de uso de P e a responsividade ao nutriente em linhagens de milho. Nove linhagens contrastantes ? eficientes ou não quanto ao uso de P ? foram avaliadas em cruzamentos dialélicos, em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, por dois anos, sob dois níveis de disponibilidade do nutriente em Latossolo Vermelho-Escuro distrófico. Diallel analysis of maize hybrids for agronomic and bromatological forage traits Agronomy

The aim of this study was to evaluate a diallel of maize hybrids for traits related to forage production and nutritional value. Six commercial hybrids were used as parents. The crosses were made according to a complete diallel design, obtaining the F1 and reciprocal crosses. The evaluations were performed in the main and second crop seasons in the 2010/2011 crop year at the Center for Technological Development in Agriculture of the Federal University of Lavras, located in Lavras, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. A matrix approach is described for assessing the variance of effects in incomplete diallels designs. The method is illustrated by reference to simulated complete and incomplete diallels using different combinations of constraints, average degree of dominance and, for the incomplete diallel, number of hybrids. Our results showed that caution should be taken in working with incomplete diallels under conditions of overdominance because there were changes in the rank of the genotypes when the excluded hybrid had parents with a low frequency of the favorable allele (i.e. the allele which increases expression of a character). Twelve corn hybrids recommended for cropping in the south-central region of the Paraná State and 66 crossings obtained among these hybrids were evaluated for agronomic and morphological traits. These genotypes were evaluated in three experiments performed in Laranjeiras do Sul, Guarapuava and Cantagalo, Paraná State, Brazil. Heterosis and specific combining ability (SCA) were estimated for yield of husked ears. Heterosis and its components were evaluated in a diallel crossing system of sweet corn. In the 38 treatments, eigth parents, 28 hybrids and two controls were used, arranged in a randomized block design with three replications.The diallel analysis followed the methodology of Gardner and Eberhart (1966). The following traits were evaluated: male and female flowering, plant and ear height, ear index (number of ears/number of plants), ºBrix, total ear weight, standard ear weight, industrial yield and total sugar content. Os objetivos deste trabalho foram identificar genitores resistentes à ferrugem asiática da soja por meio de cruzamentos dialélicos, obter informações sobre o controle genético da resistência ao patógeno e verificar se as estimativas da capacidade combinatória interagem com o ambiente (ano ou época de avaliação). The aim of this work was to evaluate the combining ability and heterosis of seedling and plant traits in accessions of ornamental pepper and their hybrids. Seven accessions of C. annuum were handcrossed and twelve quantitative plant traits were evaluated. [[abstract]]以玉米三個硬粒種及三個馬齒種之全互交為材料,分別種植於春作及秋裡作,探討期作對生長分化等性狀基因表現之影響,其結果摘要如下。 在春作環境下,馬齒種自交系之出土至雄穗分化日數最少,硬粒種之雄穗與雌穗分化間隔日數、單株葉面積及青割乾重均較大;在秋裡作大部份性狀的表現與春作相類似。不同粒型組合間在春作及秋裡作的表現有明顯的不同,其中以出土至雄穗分化日數、雄穗與雌穗分化間隔日數、葉片分化速率、單株葉面積及青割重等項之差異較大。 大部份性狀在兩期作均由累加性(GCA)及非累加性(SCA)基因作用共同控制,且有正反交效應。大部份性狀以累加性變方(GCA/SCA比值)所佔的比例較大,但在不同期作間,且隨性狀的不同,其大小有明顯的變異。 在不同期作下,親本之大部份性狀的一般組合力,馬齒種為負效應,硬粒種為正效應。而一般組合力效應值,在春作僅雄穗分化始期葉片出現數目、雄穗與雌穗分化間隔日數等性狀有較大的趨勢,其餘性狀則均以秋裡作較大。 在春作環境下,異粒型組合大部份性狀為正的特定組合力,而同粒型組合則大多為負的效應;但在秋裡作環境下,不論是馬齒種同粒型、硬粒種同粒型或異粒型組合,大部份性狀均呈負的特定組合力效應。不同粒型組合間的特定組合力效應易受期作影響。 大部份生長分化性狀之組合力有正反交效應,其效應值的大小,依粒型組合間及期作環境之不同而有差異,但其正反效應變方僅佔總遺傳變方之極小比例。...

[[abstract]]六個玉米自交系親本及其十五個單交組合,於1991年秋作及1992年春作,利用田間自然感染,進行玉米開花後之成株對葉枯病(Helminthosporium maydis race 0)抗病性之遺傳分析。目交系發病等級在期作間相當一致,六個自交系中,Antigua-2D及Sw654對葉枯病具有極高的抗病性。組合力分析結果顯示,抗病性係由累加性及非累加性基因所共同控制,其中又以累加性佔極大之比例。本研究建議:利用譜系法或輪迴選種法,改良玉米成株葉枯病之抗病性,當可獲得較顯著之效果。 Six inbreds and their fifteen single cross hybrids were evaluated in fall of 1991 and spring of 1992 under natural epiphytotics for mature plant resistance to southern corn leaf blight (Helminthosporium maydis=Bipolaris maydis) race 0. 玉米莖葉性狀與青割產量之全互交分析 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute

[[abstract]]本試驗以七個玉米自交系親本(四個硬粒種及三個馬齒種)及其四十二個全互交組合於1992年秋作進行田間試驗,莖葉性狀及青割產量之資料利用Griffing方法Ⅰ作全互交分析。變方分析結果顯示,十項性狀在參試品系間均呈極顯著。十項性狀中只有吐絲期及第一穗以下葉片數兩性狀具有正反交效應。雜交種比自交系較早開花、吐絲,同時有較高之株高及穗位高,及較多之葉面積及青割鮮草產量;稈徑、第一穗以上葉片數、第一穗以下葉片數及總葉片數亦以雜交種略高於自交系,唯未達顯著水準。除稈徑主要由非累加性基因、第一穗以上葉片數主要由累加性基因作用外,其餘八項性狀概由累加性及非累加性基因共同控制。由GCA/SCA觀之,株高、穗位高、第一穗以上葉片數、第一穗以下葉片數、總葉片數、葉面積及鮮草產量等性狀受累加性基因之作用遠大於受非累加性基因之作用。各性狀一般組合力效應、特定組合力效應及雜種潛勢值在自交系、雜交種或粒型組合間變化均大。參試親本中,就鮮草產量而言,以RSC2具有最大之GCA正效應。不管自交系親本或雜交種,鮮草產量與株高、穗位高、第一穗以下葉片數及葉面積均為顯著正相關,此類性狀或可作為選拔高產青割玉米之參考指標。

[[abstract]]六個分屬於Spanish、Valencia及Virginia三種植物型(各2品系)之落花生品系為材料,進行6×6全互交(不包括反交)分析,探討Fl世代莢果及籽粒性狀的組合力及雜種優勢。結果顯示:十項性狀均以累加性作用較重要,但仍有七項性狀其非累加性作用仍佔重要成份。比較型間組合的SCA效應,以Spanish×Valencia組合有最多的正效應,而Spanish×Virginia組合均為負效應。所有組合平均值大多介於兩親平均值之間,Spanish×Valencia型間組合除莢長外,均高於兩親平均值,具有較強的雜種優勢,而Spanish×Virginia型間組合則均低於兩親平均值。Spanish type具有較多的優良性狀,且其GCA效應較高,以Spanish type做為親本進行雜交育種較為有利。針對莢果及籽粒性狀進行改良,可將Spanish type與Valencia及Virginia type進行型間雜交及分離後裔選拔;唯選拔早期宜留意特殊組合力及雜種優勢效應之影響。
