Aerial, ground and chemigation spray deposition on corn for the control of spodoptera frugiperda (lepidoptera: noctuidae) Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Cunha,João Paulo Arantes Rodrigues da; Nascimento,Ana Paula de Castro.
Pesticides can be applied by aircraft, ground-sprayers or sprinkler irrigation. However, selecting the best option is complicated by the limited number of studies comparing these techniques. Thus, the objective of this work was to study the chlorpyrifos insecticide deposition applied by aircraft (30 L ha-1), tractor-mounted sprayer (200 L ha-1) and chemigation (70,000 L ha-1) for the control of Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) in two corn (Zea mays L.) populations (70,000 and 100,000 plants ha-1). Active ingredient residue on the corn plant leaves was evaluated by gas chromatography, immediately and ten days after the treatments. Armyworm numbers in each plot and control were also evaluated. The experiment was set up in randomized blocks with four...

Computer programs for analysis of droplets sprayed on water sensitive papers Planta Daninha
Cunha,J.P.A.R.; Farnese,A.C.; Olivet,J.J..
The use of water-sensitive papers is an important tool for assessing the quality of pesticide application on crops, but manual analysis is laborious and time-consuming. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate and compare the results obtained from four software programs for spray droplet analysis in different scanned images of water-sensitive papers. After spraying, papers with four droplet deposition patterns (varying droplet spectra and densities) were analyzed manually and by means of the following computer programs: CIR, e-Sprinkle, DepositScan and Conta-Gotas. The diameter of the volume and number medians and the number of droplets per target area were studied. There is a strong correlation between the values measured using the different programs and the...

Design, construction and evaluation of a sprayer drift measurement system CIGR Journal
Azizpanah, Amir; Rajabipour, Ali; Alimardani, Reza; Kheiralipour, Kamran; Ghamari, Bahram; Mohammadi, Vahid.
Spray drift study for reducing environmental hazards and protecting crops is of high importance as the pesticides used today are more active and many are non-selective. Drift potential can be restricted by assessing and optimizing equipment design, application parameters, the liquid spray properties, type of formulation and environmental conditions. The aim of this research was to design, construct and assess an intelligent system to determine the level of the spraying drift. The main parts of the system were liquid supply mechanism, pipes and nozzles, a controlled pneumatic system to pressurize the liquid, a nozzle moving system with a controlling panel and a tunnel for wind providing and control. To assess the performance of sprayer and drift of...

Initial development of two eucalyptus hybrid submitted to irrigation REA
Oliveira,Gabriel Q. de; Lopes,Adriano S.; Jung,Leandro H.; Rego,Norton H.; Oliveira,Jean C. L. de.
The eucalyptus offers several advantages compared to other forestry species and, by using the irrigation can increase productivity and decrease production time. The objective of the present study was to evaluate two hybrid eucalyptus (Grancam and Urograndis), no irrigation, dripping and micro sprinkler irrigated at 90, 120, 150 and 180 days after transplanting (DAT). The experiment was conducted at the experimental irrigation area in the State University of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the municipality of Aquidauna - State of MS, Brazil. The experimental design was randomized blocks, split plot with four blocks and two replications within each block, and the plots were composed by irrigation treatments (dripping, micro sprinkler irrigate and dry) and the...

Performance evaluation of a variable rate sprayer by artificial neural network models CIGR Journal
Bagheri, Nikrooz -.
To evaluate the performance of a variable rate boom sprayer, an artificial neural network (ANN) was employed. To model output flow of nozzles, 727 nets by four neural net models, namely, linear, MLP, RBF and GRNN were tested. For each nozzle, 45, 22 and 23 experimental data were used for train, verification and test, respectively. The results indicated that RBF model was selected as the best by regression ratio of 0.198 and R2 of 0.98. To investigate the capability of RBF model in prediction of nozzles flow, statistical analysis was used. Based on the results, average value of R2 for statistical and RBF models were 0.98 and 0.99, respectively. So, the average value of CV for RBF and statistical models were 18.96% and 19.05%, respectively. From the results,...

Periodic inspection of sprayers: diagnostic to the northern of Paraná REA
Gandolfo,Marco A.; Antuniassi,Ulisses R.; Gandolfo,Ulisses D.; Moraes,Eder D. de; Rodrigues,Eurípedes B.; Adegas,Fernando S..
To optimize the use of pesticides, several countries have carried out periodic inspections in agricultural sprayers. In Brazil, knowing the conditions of this machinery canguide researches and investments in guidelines for its use and maintenance. The objective of this study was to verify the state of sprayer maintenance used in the North of the state of Paraná, in Brazil. Several sprayer items were evaluated, such as: presence, status and scale of the manometer, status of the hose, status of the anti-drip component, presence of leaks, status of the bar, status of the filters, state of the spraying nozzles and errors in the targeted flow rate. Machines were named as approved when there was no failure in any item evaluated. The factor that caused the...

Precision spray modeling using image processing and artificial neural network CIGR Journal
Azizpanah, Amir; Rajabipour, Ali; Alimardani, Reza; Kheiralipour, Kamran; Mohammadi, Vahid.
This study employed artificial neural network method for predicting the sprayer drift under different conditions using image processing technique. A wind tunnel was used for providing air flow in different velocities. Water Sensitive Paper (WSP) was used to absorb spray droplets and an automatic algorithm processed the images of WSPs for measuring droplet properties including volume median diameter (Dv0.5) and Surface Coverage Percent (SCP). Four Levenberg-Marqurdt models were developed to correlate the sprayer drift (output parameter) to the input parameters (height, pressure, wind velocity and Dv0.5). The ANN models were capable of predicting the output variables in different conditions of spraying with a high performance. Both models predicted the...

SPRAY DEPOSITION ON SOYBEAN CROP USING DIFFERENT TRAVEL SPEEDS AND APPLICATION RATES REA
Cunha,João P. A. R. da; Victor,Arthur P.; Sales,Caroline G. R..
ABSTRACT Farmers are seeking pesticide treatments with lower application rates and higher travel speeds. However, this can lead to a poor quality of the application. The aim of this study was to evaluate the spray deposition on soybean crop and the droplet spectra using different application rates and speeds. The experiment was conducted in soybean (R5 stage), M 6410 IPRO variety. Six treatments involving two application rates (80 and 150 L ha-1) and three speeds (10, 15 and 20 km h-1) were evaluated through a self-propelled sprayer. A characterization study of the spray droplets was conducted through the evaluation of water sensitive papers. The spray deposition study was carried out. For this, a marker was added to the application to be detected by...

Vertical and horizontal oscillation of three models of self-propelled boom sprayers AGRIAMBI
Reynaldo,Étore F.; Machado,Thiago M.; Taubinger,Leandro; Quadros,Dionathan de.
ABSTRACT The spray boom is one of the sprayer components that most affect the application quality and may cause phytotoxicity and overlay application problems. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the displacement in the vertical and horizontal movements of the spray booms in three models of self-propelled boom sprayers. The vibrations of the spray boom in the vertical direction was measured using three receivers (GNSS) with RTK differential correction. The vibration measurements in the horizontal direction were determined using a high resolution camera. At the end, the processed data were entered into a spreadsheet for the descriptive statistics. The smallest spray boom movement in the horizontal direction was obtained by the specimen 2. No statistical...
