California strawberry growers were faced with the possibility of losing one of their most important chemicals, methyl bromide. Methyl bromide was believed to be involved in the depletion of the ozone layer and 162 countries had signed the Montreal Protocol, which would lead to an eventual ban of the chemical. The US EPA had scheduled the complete phaseout of methyl bromide by 2001. The case is ideal for teaching the application of stakeholder analysis to both undergraduate and graduate classes. |

Abstract Washing and sanitization are considered particularly critical steps for the microbiological quality of fruits. At this stage, it is important to select the sanitizer which must have microbiological effectiveness. In the literature, there is a great interest on alternative sanitizers for microbiological quality control of food. Abstract Characterize the content of phytochemical compounds present in samples of extracts of strawberry (Fragaria sp.) and blackberry (Rubus sp.). The extraction of said compounds was carried out with solutions of polar solvents, such as acetone, ethanol and methanol, using an experimental design with three factors: state of maturity, resting time and temperature. The characterization of these fruits is the beginning of the utilization mainly of ellagitannins to produce ellagic acid. Resumo: O trabalho objetivou apoiar produtores do Programa de Produção Integrada de Morango (PIMo) na região de Atibaia/SP, na elaboração de um Plano de Gestão Ambiental (PGA), de forma a cumprir uma obrigatoriedade da Norma Técnica Específica da PIMo (NTEPIMo) para sua certificação. A metodologia utilizada teve como base o Sistema de Avaliação de Impactos de Inovações Tecnológicas Agropecuárias - Ambitec-Agro ao qual foi introduzido o Módulo para a Gestão Ambiental da PIMo. Seis produtores foram acompanhados na safra 2011, mediante entrevistas e avaliações de campo referentes a indicadores de desempenho e ao atendimento das NTEPIMo.
