ABA、Fluridone及Sucrose對鐵炮型及群間雜交種百合鱗片葉發育形態影響之研究 Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute
戴廷恩; 許圳塗; Ting-En Dai; Chou-Tou Shii.

Acrylamide replaced by moringa extract in sugar production Ciênc. Tecnol. Aliment.
COSTA,Gustavo Henrique Gravatim; FREITA,Cristhyane Millena de; MENDES,Franciele Quintino; ROVIERO,Juliana Pelegrini; MUTTON,Márcia Justino Rossini.
Abstract This manuscript showed a new product that can be used in sugar and alcohol production to replace the acrylamide polymer, applied in the juice treatment. This new product is an organic extract obtained from moringa seeds, which present the flocculating protein 2S-Albumin. This biomolecule is added in the decanter together with the limed and heated juice, increasing the sedimentation speed of impurities that, if remain in the process, decrease the quality of the obtained sugar. This issue is of great importance because the acrylamide molecule has carcinogenic and neurotoxic action in humans and may be incorporated within the sugar crystal or the mud (filter-cake) used as a fertilizer. Furthermore, it should be noted that this manuscript presents...

Assimilate partitioning in leaves of the raffinose-storing herb Lamium album L.: photosynthesis and carbon partitioning throughout the photoperiod Rev. Bras. Bot.
Kochhar,A.; Rees,T. Ap; Pollock,C.J..
Lamium album accumulates starch, sucrose and raffinose-family oligosaccharides (RFO) as the major products of photosynthesis. These products were measured in leaves throughout a sixteen-hour photoperiod and under various irradiance conditions. There was continuous accumulation of sucrose and starch. The rate of gas exchange was higher at 500 µEm² s-1 and 900 µEm²s-1 than at 300 µEm² s-1. The rate of photosynthesis did not decline over the sixteen-hour photoperiod, which suggested that there was no short-term feed back inhibition due to sucrose accumulation in this plant. When the products of photosynthesis were compared at the end of the photoperiod, only sucrose increased in abundance at high irradiance. The RFO pool in leaves was shown to contain...

Assimilate partitioning in leaves of the raffinose-storing herb Lamium album L.: the effects of altering source-sink balance Rev. Bras. Bot.
Kochhar,A.; Rees,T. Ap; Pollock,C.J..
In Lamium album, sucrose and raffinose-family oligosaccharides are the major products of photosynthesis that are stored in leaves. Using gas analysis and 14CO2 feeding, we compared photosynthesis and the partitioning of recently-fixed carbon in plants where sink activity was lowered by excision of flowers and chilling of roots with those where sink activity was not modified. Reduction in sink activity led to a reduction in the maximum rate of photosynthesis, to retention of fixed carbon in source leaves and to the progressive accumulation of raffinose-family oligosaccharides. This ultimately affected the extractable activities of invertase and sucrose phosphate synthase. At the end of the light period, invertase activity was significantly higher in treated...

Carbon sources and polyethylene glycol on soybean somatic embryo conversion. Repositório Alice
KÖRBES, A.P.; DROSTE, A..
Somatic embryogenesis is an efficient method for the production of target cells for soybean genetic transformation. However, this method still offers low percentages of plant regeneration, and perhaps is related to the maturation process and high morphological abnormalities of the matured embryos. This study aimed to identify a maturation medium that could contribute to the outcome of more efficient plant regeneration results. Embryogenic clusters, derived from cotyledons of immature seeds of the soybean cultivars Bragg and IAS5, were used as starting material for embryos development. Different maturation media were tested by using 6% maltose, 3% sucrose or 6% sucrose, combined with or without 25 g L-1 of the osmotic regulator polyethylene glycol...

Chlorophyll a fluorescence of sweet potato plants cultivated in vitro and during ex vitro acclimatization Braz. J. Plant Physiol.
Cassana,Francine F.; Falqueto,Antelmo R.; Braga,Eugenia J. B.; Peters,Jose A.; Bacarin,Marcos A..
Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) plants were cultivated in vitro in Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium with 20 and 40 g L-1 of sucrose under two different photon flux densities (21 and 60 µmol m-2 s-1). Leaves developed in vitro mostly showed high variable to maximum fluorescence ratio (F V/F M) , indicating good development of photosynthetic apparatus. This ratio decreased during leaf aging, especially in the plants cultivated in vitro on medium with higher sucrose concentration and higher photon flux. Leaves developed ex vitro showed high F V/F M ratio during whole experiment. The effective photochemical efficiency (F V'/F M') was maximum at 15th day after emergence of leaves. Photosynthetic potential rate was higher in leaves developed in vitro than in...

Climatic effects on sugarcane ripening under the influence of cultivars and crop age Scientia Agricola
Cardozo,Nilceu Piffer; Sentelhas,Paulo Cesar.
The lack of information about the effects of cultivars, crop age and climate on the sugarcane (Saccharum ssp.) crop yield and quality has been the primary factor impacting the sugar-ethanol sector in Brazil. One of the processes about which we do not have a satisfactory understanding is sugarcane ripening and the effects of cultivars, crop age and climate on that. Sugarcane ripening is the process of sucrose accumulation in stalks, which is heavily influenced by several factors, mainly by climatic conditions such as air temperature and water deficits. Because it is a complex process, studies of the variables involved in sugarcane ripening can provide important information, resulting in a better use of commercial cultivars, bringing advantages to growers,...

Cold induced changes on sugar contents and respiratory enzyme activities in coffee genotypes Ciência Rural
Partelli,Fábio Luiz; Vieira,Henrique Duarte; Rodrigues,Ana Paula Dias; Pais,Isabel; Campostrini,Eliemar; Chaves,Maria Manuela Coelho Cabral; Ramalho,José Cochicho.
The present research aimed to characterize some biochemical responses of Coffea canephora (clones 02 and 153) and C. arabica (Catucaí IPR 102) genotypes subjected to low positive temperatures, helping to elucidate the mechanisms involved in cold tolerance. For that, one year old plants were subjected successively to 1) a temperature decrease (0.5°C a day) from 25/20°C to 13/8°C (acclimation period), 2) a three day chilling cycle (3x13/4°C) and to 3) a recovery period of 14 days (25/20°C). In Catucaí (less cold sensitive when compared to clone 02) there was an increased activity in the respiratory enzymes malate dehydrogenase and pyruvate kinase. Furthermore, Catucaí showed significant increases along the cold imposition and the higher absolute values after...
