Chemical composition of sugarcane silages with crambe bran Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Bonfá,Caroline Salezzi; Guimarães,Cíntia Gonçalves; Evangelista,Antônio Ricardo; Santos,Alexandre Soares dos; Guimarães,Amanda Gonçalves; Gandini,Elizzandra Marta Martins.
ABSTRACT We evaluated the contents of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), mineral matter (MM), soluble carbohydrates (CHOS), ammonia nitrogen (N-NH3), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), and acid detergent fiber (ADF) in sugarcane silages to which different levels of inclusion (LI) of crambe bran (CB) were added in proportions of 0, 3, 10, 17 and 20% at different storage times (ST). Laboratory silos were used, predetermined ST being 0, 3, 7, 12, 24, 36, 41, and 60 days after silage. For statistical analysis, the response surface methodology was used, in which LI and ST served as independent factors and response variables as dependent factors. The levels of DM and CP increased linearly with NI; however, it did not show any significant response regarding ST. The...

Maldonado, Fabiana; Santos, Antonio Carlos dos.
This work aims to revise and discuss organizational, social, economical, technical and environmental factors involved in the artisan fishing activity which influence the formation and the development of the cooperatives of artisan fishermen; these ones, still form a class of workers excluded of the current capitalist economical system and they have in the cooperativism an important tool for your social inclusion, it warrants them the income for maintenance of families. Therefore, a bibliographic revision was carried out on the theme, as well as on the themes related to the cooperativism and to the fishing activity itself through a research on the bibliographical collections of the main entities, organs and services that deal with the matter, besides the...

Ecosystem regime shifts, which are long-term system reorganizations, have profound implications for sustainability. There is a great need for indicators of regime shifts, particularly methods that are applicable to data from real systems. We have developed a form of Fisher information that measures dynamic order in complex systems. Here we propose the use of Fisher information as a means of: (1) detecting dynamic regime shifts in ecosystems, and (2) assessing the quality of the shift in terms of intensity and pervasiveness. Intensity is reflected by the degree of change in dynamic order, as determined by Fisher information, and pervasiveness is a reflection of how many observable variables are affected by the change. We present a new robust methodology to...

Sustainable Development of the Boreal Forest: Interaction of Ecological, Social, and Business Feedbacks Ecology and Society
Chapin, F. Stuart; University of Alaska; fffsc@aurora.uaf.edu; Whiteman, Gail; Queen's University; whiteman@nsi-ins.ca.
Humans are an integral component of ecosystems, just as the products of ecosystems are critical to social systems. To understand the future state of the boreal forest, we must understand the ecological, social, economic, and business interactions that link ecological and social systems into a common regional system, as well as the feedbacks that govern changes in these interactions. We analyze the negative feedbacks that promoted a sustainable interaction between ecological and social systems prior to the development of business systems, which are dominated by positive feedbacks that have reduced the sustainability of the boreal system. We suggest a minimum set of interactions that are required to improve the sustainability of a business-based boreal system.

VIABILIDADE ECONÔMICA DA PRODUÇÃO DE ALGODÃO, SOJA E CANA-DEAÇÚCAR NO ESTADO DE GOIÁS AgEcon
Alves, Lucilio Rogerio Aparecido; Ballaminut, Carlos Eduardo Carneiro; Osaki, Mauro; Ribeiro, Renato Garcia; Shiomi, Gustavo Massaharu.
