Table grapes are one of the most productive and economically relevant fruit crops worldwide. Table grape production characterizes by high water productivity but also by an intensive use of water, which puts pressure on local/regional water resources, particularly in dry regions (e.g. South Mediterranean, Northeast and Southeast of Brazil). Climate change and scarcer water resources make the problem more severe in those areas. Meanwhile, consumer’s demand for quality and sustainable production is increasing and environmental issues are becoming critical for competiveness. In this context, table grape ‘‘industry’’ needs solutions to promote water savings, sustain yield, quality and profit. Deficit irrigation emerged as a tool to mitigate the negative impact... |

Feeding is one of the major factors that influences the growth and development of animals, justifying thus the present experiment that analyzed the effect of the number of feeding environments on the performance of bullfrog tadpoles through the growth (weight and length) and performance (food remains, average feed intake, average weight gain, and feed conversion). The treatments consisted of subunits of two, four, and eight feeding environments in the experimental units at disposal for the tadpole population, and one without subdivisions, comprising a single environment, during 60 experimental days. The design was completely randomized, with four treatments and three replications. The values were tested using an analysis of variance and Duncan test (α =... |

The agricultural engineer Luís Henrique Bassoi states that agriculture is not the villain of the water crisis, as it is sometimes considered, and presents data on irrigation and water management; Sustainable intensification is a viable alternative so that humankind can continue producing food and reaching record yield rates, preserving the environment and reducing the effects of its actions on the planet. Details can be seen in this special article; Elephant grass can be used as an input material for boilers, generates energy and confirms its potential as a raw material for cellulosic ethanol; Plants, animals and microorganisms can be used as biological factories for the production of high added-value molecules that positively impact treatments against... |
