Aluminum stress tolerance in potato genotypes grown with silicon Bragantia

ABSTRACT Potato cultivation is widespread around the world, being exposed to several abiotic stresses, including soils with high aluminum (Al) availability. Silicon (Si) is recognized for alleviating the stress caused by Al in various plant species. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the potential of Si to mitigate the oxidative stress caused by Al in potato genotypes, exhibiting differential sensitivity toward this element. Plants of the Al-sensitive genotype (SMIJ319-7) and Al-tolerant genotype (SMIF212-3) were grown for two weeks in a hydroponic system with the nutrient solution containing combinations of Al (0 and 1.85 mM) and Si (0, 0.5 and 1.0 mM). ABSTRACT Sewage sludge is rich in organic matter and nutrients for the plants, and can be used in pineapple production, but there are few studies with scientific evaluation of possible inorganic and biological contaminants in pineapple plantations. In view of the above, this study aimed to evaluate the contamination of the soil and in fruits of pineapple fertilized with sewage sludge. The study was conducted in the municipality of Janaúba-MG. Composed of an oxidizer, fuel, metallic powders, and binders, sparkler candles are widely used on birthdays and celebrations. A procedure for the determination of Al, Ba, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Sr, and Ti in sparkler candles by microwave plasma optical emission spectrometry (MIP OES) was developed to evaluate the presence of potentially toxic elements. Different com-mercial candles were analyzed before and after ignition. Moreover, the remainder analytes were determined on the surface where the ignition was carried out.

Lodo de esgoto aeróbico, calado e com 87% de umidade, produzido pela ETEBelém em Curitiba, PR, foi utilizado no sistema de produção da bracatinga (Mimosa scabrella Benth.), num ensaio de campo conduzido em Cambissolo álico epidistrófico Tb A húmico, no município de Colombo, PR. Foram testadas dosagens de até 70 t/ha (base úmida), distribuídas na superfície e não incorporadas ao solo. Análises químicas dos teores de nutrientes do solo em quatro profundidades (15, 30, 45 e 60 cm), decorridos 6 meses da aplicação, quando se cultivou, simultaneamente, feijão, milho e bracatinga, indicaram que: não houve variação nos teores de matéria orgânica, P, K, Cu, Fe, Mn e Zn solúveis; houve aumento do pH e diminuição do Al e do H+AI; houve aumento nos teores solúveis de...
