The Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas, Thunberg, 1793) is one of 20 species in the genus Crassostrea. Although native to the Japan/Korea region, C. gigas is a hardy species that has been introduced to a number of countries worldwide, including the US, Canada, the UK, France, Korea, China, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and South America, mainly for aquaculture purposes (Mann et al., 1991; Orensanz et al., 2002). As a result, C. gigas has become the leading species in world shellfish culture, with an estimated production of 4.6 million t in 2006 (FAO, 2008). Because C. gigas does not require additional food to sustain its growth, this species is relatively inexpensive and easy to produce. Its capacity to adapt to various environmental conditions and... |

The strategic significance of Chinese rural labor transfer is expounded. It is conducive to solving the three agricultural problems concerning agriculture, rural areas, and farmers and coordinating the urban and rural development; promoting the rational distribution of human resources and realizing the growth of national economy; restructuring industrial structure and improving Chinese market competitiveness. The problems in the transfer of Chinese rural labors are analyzed, which include the low overall cultural level of rural labors; imperfect organization developmental; weak management mechanism and imperfect supporting measures. The rational paths for Chinese rural labor transfer are pointed out, including break the urban and rural dual structure and... |

Official statistics are used to expatiate the general state of female labor force employment and transfer in rural China. According to the “structure” problem of female labor force transfer, it is pointed out that the overall cultural quality of rural women is relatively low, a large number of rural middle-aged women stay at home, social security system is lacked and the social service system is not perfect, which are the major factors restricting the transfer of rural female labor force. Therefore, according to the problems in employment and transfer of female labor force in rural China, countermeasures are put forward, which are ① improving cultural quality, skill and competitiveness of rural female labor force, ② perfecting labor market and social... |

Macrinus Simon, 1887 can be diagnosed by the twisted tegulum with a distal retrolateral laminar projection and the fulcrum with a prolateral serrated projection on the male palp and by the copulatory ducts with an anterior, fused hyaline part and a median long and sclerotized part ending at a slightly rounded spermathecae in the female epigynum. The genus currently includes three species: Macrinus succineus Simon, 1887 and M. jaegeri Rheims, 2007, from Brazil, and M. pollexensis (Schenkel, 1953) from Venezuela. In this paper I describe two new species: Macrinus bambuco sp. nov. and Macrinus calypso sp. nov. The first is based on a male from Lomalinda, Colombia, and is distinguished from the remaining Macrinus by the presence of a retrolateral triangular... |

The title may raise questions about definitions of the terms used. The more obvious ones are: 1) What is transfer? 2) How to define toxic; and 3) How to define feed or food. A more underlying question is how to measure the substances we are interested in. The (often) chemical methods used, are not always sensitive or specific enough. Sometimes, biologically based methods are used which detect a biological response, but seldom identify the compound responsible for that. Transfer is often not quantified in absolute terms but expressed in concentrations in feed and food. Mass balance between intake and excretion are quite rare as a steady state situation of residues in the animal is sometimes not obtained. Toxicity is mostly dependent on the concentration of... |
