Does the Interference of GR® Volunteer Corn Alters Stress Metabolism on Soybean? Planta Daninha
PIASECKI,C.; RIZZARDI,M.A.; SCHONS,J.; CAVERZAN,A.; CHAVARRIA,G..
ABSTRACT: The cultivation of GR® corn prior to soybean favors the occurrence of GR® volunteer corn plants interfering in soybean crops. The interference of volunteer corn causes the soybean yield losses, and the magnitude of losses varies with the corn density. The soybean yield losses can be partially explained by the occurrence of oxidative stress, which occurs by the higher content of reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The objective of this study was to quantify H2O2 content and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) on soybean as a function of interference of populations of GR® volunteer corn originated from individual plants and clumps (clumps are seven corn plants...

Pre-emergence control and interference of voluntary maize plants on a soybean crop in Brazilian Cerrado. Repositório Alice
BUCHLING, C; BRAZ, G. B. P.; PROCOPIO, S. de O.; FERREIRA, C. J. B.; SILVA, A. G. da; CORADIN, J..
Abstract: The succession of soybean/maize has been largely adopted. Storm damage and crop problems can lead to grain loss, generating maize ear fragments or even whole ears that remain in the soil and still display germination viability, resulting in the occurrence of volunteer plants. In this context, the present study aimed to evaluate the interference of voluntary maize plants on soybean and investigate the susceptibility of maize hybrids to pre-emergence herbicides. In the first step, an experiment was performed evaluating the influence of voluntary maize plant density and spatial distribution on soybean. The experiment was performed in a randomized completely block design (RCBD) with four replications, with treatments disposed in factorial arrangement...

Relative Competitiveness of Common Bean Cultivars in Coexistence with Volunteer Corn Planta Daninha
AGUIAR,A.C.M.; BASSO,C.J.; SILVA,D.R.O.; GHELLER,D.P.; NOVELLO,B.D.; RIEDER,E..
ABSTRACT: This study evaluated the relative competitiveness of two common bean cultivars in coexistence with volunteer corn emerging at different times in different proportions of plants in the association. Firstly, for both beans and volunteer corn, the plant population was determined in which the final production of dry biomass becomes constant (24 plants pot-1). A completely randomized experiment design, with five replicates, was carried out in a 2×2×5 factorial scheme, involving two common bean cultivars (IPR Gralha and Fepagro Triunfo), two emergence times of volunteer corn plants (-7 and 0 days in relation to beans) and five proportions of plants in the association (100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25:75 and 0:100). At 35 days after bean emergence, measurements...
