Digestible tryptophan requirement for tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) fingerlings Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Bomfim,Marcos Antonio Delmondes; Marchão,Rafael Silva; Ribeiro,Felipe Barbosa; Siqueira,Jefferson Costa de; Silva,Louis Ramos; Takishita,Sylvia Sanae.
ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to determine the digestible tryptophan requirement of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) fingerlings and its relationship with digestible lysine. A total of 300 tambaqui fingerlings with three initial weights (2.12 ± 1.19, 8.13 ± 0.75, and 15.18 ± 1.91 g) were distributed in a randomized complete block design, consisting of six treatments (0.225, 0.256, 0.288, 0.319, 0.350, and 0.381% of digestible tryptophan) and five replicates of 10 fish per plot. The tryptophan to lysine ratio was estimated using a 1.78% level of digestible lysine. Variables regarding performance, food efficiency, and body deposition of protein, fat, and ashes, and nitrogen retention efficiency were evaluated. Feed intake and nitrogen retention...

Estimation et amélioration des performances zootechniques de l'élevage larvaire de Dicentrarchus labrax et de Sparus auratus ArchiMer
Chatain, Beatrice.
By gathering specific measurement criteria and an objective analysis of field methods, the main purpose of this work is to help estimate larval Sea Bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and Sea Bream {Sparus auratus) stock performance raised under intensive conditions. As such, it is a methodology guide zootechnicians can use, in their daily quantitative and qualitative evaluation stock issues. The first part of this work covers defining the precision of current counting methods and establishing their limitations. The quantification methods analysed, as well as the new proposed methods, relate to the major phases of larval farming, from laying to postlarval stage. Three field methods commonly used in aquaculture to quantify egg population are therefore...

INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT THERMAL ENVIRONMENTS ON THE PERFORMANCE OF LAYING HENS DURING THE INITIAL STAGE OF REARING REA
Andrade,Rafaella R.; Tinôco,Ilda de F. F.; Baêta,Fernando da C.; Albino,Luiz F. T.; Cecon,Paulo R..
ABSTRACT This study was conducted with the aim of assessing the effects of different ambient temperature values on the performance of laying birds from one to 42 days of age in order to obtain optimal comfort temperatures. A total of 864 laying hens were distributed in four climatic chambers with different temperature ranges. One of the chambers was maintained within the thermal range recommended by the literature and the others were maintained under temperatures that consisted of mild and moderate cold stress and moderate heat stress. The experiment was conducted according to a completely randomized design in a split-plot arrangement and six replications. The data were analyzed by means of the analysis of variance and regression. The final performance of...

Metabolic and behavioral effects of ractopamine at continuous low levels in rats under stress BABT
Lopes,Edna; Sousa,Raimundo Vicente de; Zangeronimo,Márcio Gilberto; Pereira,Andressa Naira de Jesus; Coelho,Mariana de Resende; Ferreira,Matheus Soares da Silva; Lima,Renato Ribeiro; Marcondes,Fernanda Klein; Napimoga,Marcelo Henrique; Pereira,Luciano José.
This study aimed at evaluating the effect of ractopamine (RAC) on metabolism, zootechnical performance, body composition, and behavior in Wistar rats submitted to acute and chronic restrain stress. The oral dose of 5 mg/kg of RAC was administered in periods of 0, 7, 14, 21, and 28 days. The elevated plus-maze test (EPMT) was used for behavioral assessment. Blood, carcass and viscera characteristics were evaluated. Insulin-dependent glucose transporters (GLUT-4) were semi-quantified by Western Blot in epididymal adipocytes. RAC periods associated with chronic stress increased the GLUT-4 protein expression in adipose tissue in a time-dependent manner (P=0.01), i.e., the longer the RAC addition period, the higher the GLUT-4 concentration in chronically...

Valine in diets for Nile tilapia Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Rodrigues,Rômulo Batista; Lui,Tatiane Andressa; Neu,Dacley Hertes; Boscolo,Wilson Rogério; Bittencourt,Fábio.
ABSTRACT This study verified the effect of valine on the zootechnical performance, percentage composition and growth of skeletal muscle fibre in fingerlings of Nile tilapia. A total of 270 fish (average initial weight 1.57 ± 0.05 g and total initial length 4.16 ± 0.46 cm) were used, distributed in 18 tanks (250 litres), in a completely randomised design with six treatments and three replications. Six diets (26.81% DP and 3200.00 kcal DE) were formulated with increasing levels of valine (0.82, 0.86, 0.98, 1.04, 1.10 and 1.26% of the diet). The zootechnical performance, percentage composition of the fish, and muscle-fibre distribution were evaluated. There was no effect from the different levels of valine (P>0.05) on zootechnical performance, percentage...
