| Resumo: |
Rhizobacteria were isolated from rhizosphere soil of rice plants grown in Kanchanaburi Provience. All bacterial isolates were evaluated for the efficacy to inhibit mycerial growth of Rhizoctonia solani, a causal agent of sheath blight on rice by dual culture test on potato dextrose agar (PDA). Six gram positive and three gram negative bacterial isolates effectively inhibited mycerial growth of R. solani by 30.62-75.00 % as compared to the control. Selected bacteria were further tested for the efficacy to promote growth of rice (Chai Nat 1) seedling by seed soaking in bacterial cell suspension (108 CFU/ml) for 24 hr. Soaked seed were incubated for 24 hr before sowing. The results indicated that isolate RRK1 was the most promising isolates that provided the highest percentage of seed germination (96.8%) and the longest root length of 21-day-old seedling (17.6 cm)
