Objective of this study was to determine effects of oil palm frond silage (OPFS) mixed with 0, 2, 4 and 6% molasses on nutrient utilization and rumen fermentation process in Thai native male cattle. Four Thai native male cattle, 2.7-2.8 years old with average body weight (BW) of 280+5 kg, were arranged in 4x4 Latin Square design. The cattle were fed with OPFS mixed with molasses ad libitum and supplemented with concentrate at 0.5% of BW as dry matter (DM) basis. The results showed that DM intake and organic matter (OM) intake of all groups were not significantly different (P>0.05) while crude protein (CP) intake of cattle received OPFS mixed with 2, 4 and 6% molasses were significantly higher (P<0.05) than that of 0% molasses. Neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and acid detergent fiber (ADF) intake of cattle received OPFS with 2, 4 and 6% molasses were significantly higher (P<0.05) than cattle received OPFS of 0% molasses. However, digestibility coefficients of DM, OM, CP, NDF, ADF and total digestible nutrient of all groups were not significantly different (P>0.05) among treatments. Pack cell volume, blood urea nitrogen and glucose concentrations as well as ruminal pH and NH3-N and total volatile fatty acid from all groups were not significantly difference (P>0.05). Thus, OPFS mixed with 0 to 6% molasses could be used as roughage source for Thai native cattle, when supplemented with concentrate at 0.5% of BW, had no adverse effect on nutrient utilization and rumen fermentation process. วัตถุประสงค์ของการศึกษาครั้งนี้เพื่อประเมินผลของทางใบปาล์มน้ำมันที่หมักร่วมกับกากน้ำตาลที่ระดับ 0, 2, 4 และ 6% ต่อการใช้ประโยชน์ได้ของโภชนะและกระบวนการหมักในกระเพาะรูเมนของโคพื้นเมือง ใช้โค เพศผู้ อายุ 2.7-2.8 ปี น้ำหนักเฉลี่ย 280+5 กก. วางแผนการทดลองแบบ 4x4 ละตินสแควร์ โดยโคได้รับทางใบปาล์มน้ำมันที่หมักแบบเต็มที่และให้อาหารข้นคิดเป็นวัตถุแห้งในปริมาณ 0.5% ของน้ำหนักตัว ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ปริมาณการกินได้วัตถุแห้งและอินทรียวัตถุของทางใบปาล์มน้ำมันที่หมักร่วมกับกากน้ำตาลที่ระดับต่าง ๆ ไม่แตกต่างกัน (P>0.05) สำหรับปริมาณการกินได้ของโปรตีนรวม ผนังเซลล์ และลิกโนเซลลูโลสในโคที่ได้รับทางใบปาล์มน้ำมันที่หมักร่วมกับกากน้ำตาลที่ระดับ 2, 4 และ 6% สูงกว่าโคที่ได้รับทางใบปาล์มน้ำมันที่หมักร่วมกับกากน้ำตาลที่ระดับ 0% อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (P<0.05) อย่างไรก็ตาม สัมประสิทธิ์การย่อยได้ของวัตถุแห้ง อินทรียวัตถุ โปรตีนรวม ผนังเซลล์ ลิกโนเซลลูโลส และโภชนะที่ย่อยได้รวม ของโคทั้ง 4 กลุ่ม ไม่แตกต่างกัน (P>0.05) นอกจากนี้ปริมาตรเม็ดเลือดแดงอัดแน่น ความเข้มข้นของยูเรีย-ไนโตรเจน และกลูโคสในเลือด ตลอดจนปริมาณแอมโมเนีย-ไนโตรเจน กรดไขมันที่ระเหยง่ายทั้งหมดในกระเพาะรูเมนของโคทั้งสี่กลุ่มก็มีค่าเฉลี่ยไม่แตกต่างกัน (P>0.05) ดังนั้นทางใบปาล์มน้ำมันที่หมักร่วมกับกากน้ำตาล 0, 2, 4 และ 6% เสริมด้วยอาหารข้น0.5% ของน้ำหนักตัว สามารถใช้เป็นแหล่งอาหารหยาบสำหรับโคพื้นเมืองโดยไม่ส่งผลกระทบต่อการใช้ประโยชน์ได้ของโภชนะและกระบวนการหมักในกระเพาะรูเมน คำสำคัญ: ทางใบปาล์มน้ำมันหมัก, กากน้ำตาล, โคพื้นเมือง, ปริมาณการกินได้
