This study measured the aquatic insect diversity and its application as a bioindicator to monitor water quality in Ing River. Ten sampling sites throughout the river were studied from April to December 2012. Shannon-Wiener index were used to assess water quality. Physical, chemical and biological parameters of the water were also measured to compare with the surface water quality standard of Thailand. Correlations of diversity index and physical and chemical parameters of the water were investigated. The results showed that 1,880 aquatic insect from 22 families in 7 orders were identified. The most abundant family found during the experimental period of 8 months was Corixidae in the Hemiptera order. Water from all sampling sites passed CLASS 2 surface water standards. The correlation analysis showed that temperature, alkalinity, and orthophosphate related to diversity index (P<0.05)
การศึกษาครั้งนี้เป็นการศึกษาความหลากหลาย และการประยุกต์ใช้แมลงน้ำเพื่อเป็นตัวบ่งชี้ทางชีวภาพในการติดตามตรวจสอบคุณภาพน้ำในแม่น้ำอิง โดยใช้ดัชนีความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพของแชนนอนวีเนอร์ประเมินคุณภาพน้ำ นอกจากนี้ยังมีการวัดค่าทางเคมี และกายภาพของแหล่งน้ำและเปรียบเทียบเทียบกับมาตรฐานคุณภาพน้ำผิวดินของประเทศไทยระหว่างเดือนเมษายนถึงเดือนธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2555 พบกลุ่มแมลงน้ำ 7 อันดับ 22 วงศ์ 1,880 ตัว แมลงที่พบมากที่สุดคือมวนวนในวงศ์ Corixidae อันดับ Hemiptera จากการใช้แมลงน้ำเป็นตัวบ่งชี้ทางชีวภาพ สามารถสรุปได้ว่า คุณภาพน้ำของจุดเก็บตัวอย่างทั้ง 10 สถานี อยู่ในเกณฑ์มาตรฐานของแหล่งน้ำผิวดินประเภท 2 จากการวิเคราะห์ค่าสหสัมพันธ์พบว่าความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพของแมลงน้ำมีความสัมพันธ์กับอุณหภูมิของน้ำ ความเป็นด่าง และปริมาณออร์โธฟอสเฟต (P<0.05)
