Resumo: |
Two experiments were accomplished with wild P. argus lobster postlarvae collected from the sea in pelagic collectors. In the first one, the effect of two foods (live and frozen Artemia) was tested on 0.17 g lobsters in a 40 days feeding trial. Significant differences were found (p<0.05) between the final weight, survival, weight increment, molting rate and NBI, the highest values were for live Artemia with the highest survival (93%). Mortalities using frozen Artemia were almost entirely attributable to cannibalism of postmoult lobsters. In the second experiment, the average initial weight was 0.26 g during 120 days and three densities (50, 70, 90 n/m2) were tested, the feeding regimes were live Artemia and pellet during 60 days the rest of time with pellet only. At the end of the experiment they were significant differences (p<0.05) among the final weight in 50 n/m2 density with the highest survival (71%) and NBI against the rest of densities. Growth in weight was significantly slower increasing stocking densities from 50 to 90 n/m2. For maximum growth and survival in culture, densities of 50 n/m2 would be recommended.
