Se revisan las características generales de los eventos El Niño en el Pacífico Tropical y la manera como se manifiestan frente a las costas del Ecuador. Se analiza la elevación del nivel del mar en la estación de La Libertad y se compara con el contenido de calor en el Pacífico central. Utilizando la información de las boyas del programa TAO se analiza la propagación de temperatura y altura dinámica desde el Pacífico ecuatorial occidental hasta el borde oriental. De igual manera se analiza el arribo de ondas ecuatoriales al borde oriental del Pacífico y su incidencia en el nivel medio del mar. El Niño 2006-07 concluyó rápidamente y de intensidad débil; puede considerarse como en evento de corta duración que presentó las características generales de otros eventos frente al Ecuador, a excepción de las lluvias que se dieron de manera aislada y deficitaria, por la fuerte señal moduladora de la atmósfera.
The general characteristics of the El Niño events are reviewed in the Tropical Pacific and the way as they are pronounced in the coasts of Ecuador. The elevation of the sea level in the station of La Libertad is analyzed and it is compared with the heat content in the central Pacific. Using the information of the buoys of the TAO program is analyzes the propagation of temperature and dynamic height from the western equatorial Pacific to the Eastern edge. Of same way is analizes the arrival of equatorial waves to the Eastern Pacific edge and its incidence in the mean sea level. El Niño 2006-07 concluded quickly and of weak intensity; it can be considered like in event of short duration that displayed the general characteristics of other events in front of Ecuador, with exception of rains that occurred of isolated and deficit way, by the strong modulator signal of the atmosphere.
