Between April and December 2008, at the off-shore station of Esmeraldas, Punta Galeras and Puerto López, were identified a total of 95 241 fish eggs, belonged to 10 orders, 31 families, 35 genres, 7 species and organisms in their first stages (moruale stage), of which the SCIAENIDAE family was the most abundant, whereas that the numbers of larvae obtained were 83735; belonged to 19 orders, 56 families, 83 genres, 21 species and organisms in their stages of pre-larvae, being the Bregmacero bathymaster the most abundant specie during the sampled months. From the qualitative and quantitative analyses, the 2008 year registered the lowest density and variety of the planktonic species, with respect to 2006 and 2007 years. From the three stations monitored during the last three years, Puerto López was the station that registered the highest density of icthyoplankton, found that the ENGRAULIDAE family was the most abundant species.
