El presente trabajo da a conocer las condiciones ambientales actuales en que se encuentran las aguas costeras en Caleta Aeolián de la Isla Baltra, a fin de contribuir a futuras investigaciones.
The present work was made in the area of Caleta Aeolián in Baltra Island during september of the 2006, were programmed 14 stations distributed in 5 perpendicular profiles to the coast. During the study it was observed that the marine coastal waters, there are not problems of contamination on the basis of the environmental characteristics of the area. A little anthropogenic influence is observed, which is reflected in the absence of fecals coliforms and organic material, in addition waters with a good degree to oxygenation and low content of nutrients because it is superficial waters. By the activities that are made own of the place, it is observed the petroleum hydrocarbon presence, but such registered values are below the permissible level established in the Ecuadorian Environmenat Legislation.
