The daily spawning females fraction (S) of Argentine anchovy (Engraulis anchoita) in relation to the year, length, proportion of females, temperature and salinity variables was studied using generalized linear models. Samples were collected during eleven research surveys carried out in the main spawning seasons and areas during 1993-2008 (Southwest Atlantic Ocean, Argentine Sea). The aim of this work was to identify the factors that affect the spawning activity. No temporary differences were observed and an S 0.12 average value was estimated. The poor explanatory percentage of the models analyzed did not allow to clearly detect the variables that could affect S. Length and temperature were the only variables that related positively, which suggests that Argentine anchovy spawning activity might be related to the population females size composition that would be affected by the environment.
Se estudió la fracción diaria de hembras desovantes (S) de la anchoíta (Engraulis anchoita) en relación con las variables año, talla, proporción de hembras, temperatura y salinidad utilizando modelos lineales generalizados. Las muestras se obtuvieron durante once campañas de investigación que se realizaron en las principales épocas y áreas de desove entre 1993 y 2008 (Atlántico SO, Mar Argentino). El objetivo del presente trabajo fue identificar los factores que afectan la actividad de desove. No se observaron diferencias temporales y se estimó un valor medio de S de 0,12. El bajo porcentaje de explicación de los modelos analizados no permitió detectar con claridad las variables que afectan a S. La talla y la temperatura fueron las únicas variables que se relacionaron positivamente, lo que sugiere que la actividad reproductiva de la anchoíta estaría relacionada con la composición de tallas de hembras de la población que se vería afectada por el medio ambiente.
