Resumo: |
The objective was to study the body biometrics of 112 bulls of the Brahman (n=37), Nellore owl (n=50) and Tabapuã (n=25), kept in three Brazilian plants. They were evaluated: rump angle (RA); distance between rump (DBR); chest depth (CD); height: croup (HC) and anterior (HH); perimeters: thoracic (PT) and scrotal (PE); lengths: body (LB) and croup (LC); and rump width (RW). We conducted analysis of variance, considering the effect of race, Central and their interactions. To assess diversity among breeds and its relationship with the variables measured was used principal components (CP) and Biplot graphics. Only race accounted for differences among bulls, evidenced in measures HC and HH. The Brahman showed lower height. The first CP explained 98.19% of the variation. The differences predict a marked variation in body height and scrotum of animals, manifesting in HC, HH, PE. Based on the weights assigned to the CP measures, it was suggested an index y = 0.39 * RA - 0.11 * DBR + 0.37 * CD - 0.09 * RW + 0.36 * LC + 0, 40 * HC + 0.08 * LB + 0.24 * PT + 0.39 * HH - 0.40 * PE. The index values a more compact animal, sexually precocious (most PE), with further development of the region where the noble meat cuts are extracted (most DBR and RW). There were minor biometric distances between Nellore and Tabapuã.
