The Results on the economic performance indicate that the EU fishing fleet was again in profitable in 2011, with 6% of income being retained as net profit. On the whole, the EU fleet showed improvements in most of the main economic performance indicators analysed when compared to 2010. Yet, in view of the uncertain economic climate and rising fuel prices, the economic performance of the EU fleet in the near future is unclear. Projections for 2012 indicate increased income for over threefifths of the fleets analysed but positive profit margins for less than half.
