El efecto de fosfitos en plantas depende fuertemente del estado nutrimental de fósforo en el organismo vivo, ya que plantas deficientes en fósforo son vulnerables a aplicaciones de fosfitos (H2PO3-). La presente investigación se realizó con el objetivo de determinar el efecto del suministro de distintos porcentajes de H2PO3- en la solución nutritiva, sobre el crecimiento, rendimiento y calidad de fruto en fresa. El experimento se realizó en un invernadero tipo túnel del Colegio de Postgraduados, en Montecillo, México, utilizando riego por goteo y tezontle como sustrato, en un diseño experimental en bloques al azar generalizado. Fertilización foliar y mallas sombra en Eustoma Grandiflorum para incrementar intensidad de color. Colegio de Postgraduados

El objetivo de la investigación fue cuantificar el desarrollo y calidad de flor de lisianthus var. Mariachi en función del uso de mallas de color y la aplicación de fertilizantes foliares. El diseño experimental fue un factorial 3 x 4, el factor uno fue mallas de color (malla azul y malla roja) y el factor dos fue fertilización foliar (aminoácidos, miel de abeja, quelatos de calcio y testigo) distribuidos en invernadero completamente al azar con 20 repeticiones. La variabilidad del color de grano en 114 poblaciones criollas de maíz se clasificó en seis grupos, en el ciclo agrícola PV-2003. Se seleccionaron seis poblaciones, una del blanco, una del amarillo, una del rojo (rojo-2), dos del azul (azul-1 y azul-2) y una del púrpura (rojo-1), para establecer un sistema de cruzas dialélicas en el ciclo agrícola PV-2004. En la F1 semilla de las cruzas hubo diferencias entre progenitores, en la cantidad de antocianinas y su distribución en el pericarpio y en la capa de aleurona. The aim of this study was to determine some physicochemical characteristics of fruits of eight strawberry cultivars (Aromas, Camino Real, Campinas, Dover, Oso Grande, Toyonoka, Tudla-Milsei and Ventana) cultivated in organic and conventional systems. The evaluated characteristics were soluble solids (SS), titratable acidity (TA), SS/AT ratio and anthocyanins. Evaluated sensory characteristics were flavor and appearance. The cultivars had a differential performance between themselves and among the systems for the evaluated characteristics. Generally, the conventional system produced fruit with higher levels of soluble solids and, organic system produced higher concentrations of anthocyanins. The aim of this work was to study the physical, chemical, physiological and microbiological changes during the flow chart of fresh-cut strawberry. Strawberry cvs. Camarosa, Dover and Tudla, derived from experimental area of the Universidade Federal de Viçosa, were selected by color (red ¾) and absence of wound. Afterwards, the minimal processing was evaluated, as follows: fast cooling, water and ice, removal of the calyx followed by conservation at 5±0.5°C and 90-95% RH for 13 days, sanitation, drainage, cut in halves. Considerando-se a vasta diversidade de cores das raízes de batata-doce, os genótipos de polpa roxa têm se destacado em função do seu conteúdo de antocianinas, fotoquímicos com ação antioxidante. We evaluated the genotype and maturity effects on antioxidant activity and phenolic compounds of whole, skin and pulp fruits from three highbush blueberry cultivare (cv. Brigitta, cv. Bluegold and cv. Legacy) grown in southern Chile. Total antioxidant activity (TAA) in ripe fruits varied among the cultivare in the order Legacy > Brigitta > Bluegold. We found that TAA in unripe green and fully ripe fruits was high and similar between them, whereas the lowest levels were found in intermediate ripe fruits. The same trend was observed for fruit total phenolic content. Abstract: The objective of this work was to characterize entire flowers of the feijoa (Acca sellowiana) genotypes 'Alcântara', 'Helena', 'Mattos', 'Nonante', and the accession 2316 for dry matter, total antioxidant activity (TAA), and the contents of soluble solids, ascorbic acid, total anthocyanins, total flavonoids, and total phenolic compounds (TPC), as well as for the petal surface areas and colors. Ethephon use and application timing of abscisic acid for improving color of 'Rubi' table grape PAB

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of ethephon and of abscisic acid (ABA) application timing on the color of 'Rubi' Table grape. Eight treatments were evaluated: control, without application; ethephon 500 mg L‑1 applied seven days after veraison (7 DAV); and two concentrations of ABA (200 and 400 mg L‑1) arranged with three application timings at 7 DAV, at 15 days before harvest (DBH), and at 7 DAV + 15 DBH. ABA does not modify physical‑chemical characteristics of the cluster and improves the color of grapes, especially when applied twice (7 DAV + 15 DBH) at the concentration of 400 mg L‑1.

Chemical characteristics of grape juices from different cultivar and rootstock combinations PAB

The objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of different combinations of grape cultivars and rootstocks on chemical characteristics of grape juices. Six treatments were evaluated, consisting of combinations between the Isabel Precoce and BRS Cora grape cultivars and the 'IAC 766', 'IAC 313', and 'IAC 572' rootstocks. Approximately 10 L of juice were obtained per treatment. Analyses of color, total soluble solids content, pH, anthocyanins, total phenolics, total sugars, and quantification and identification of biogenic amines by HPLC were performed. Sensitivity of yellow passion fruit to ultraviolet-B radiation PAB

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of UV-B radiation on the vegetative growth and on the gas exchange characteristics of passion fruit plants (Passiflora edulis) grown in greenhouse. The average unweighted UV-B radiation near the apex of the plants was 8 W m-2 for the UV-B treatment (high UV-B), and 0.8 W m-2 for the control plants (low UV-B). Plants were irradiated with UV-B for 7 hours per day, centered on solar noon, during 16 days. High UV-B radiation resulted in lower shoot dry matter accumulation per plant. Abstract In Brazil there are still few studies on the post-harvest quality of low-chill blueberry cultivars, which have been recently introduced in the country. ‘Snowchaser’ blueberries were evaluated during a six-day storage period regarding fruit physical and chemical properties, and its antioxidant capacity. During fruit storage there was an increased weight loss and maintenance of some skin color properties such as luminosity (L*) and b*, whereas the values of parameter a* decreased and chroma (C) values increased. The levels of anthocyanins and flavonoids in the pulp increased, as well as the antioxidant activity.
