ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate the energetic potential achieved by the application of phyto-regulators to sweet sorghum cultivars. A randomized complete block design was used. Experiments were conducted using two sweet sorghum cultivars (BRS 508 and BRS 509), fourphyto-regulators (ethephon, ethyl-trinexapac, glyphosate, and sulfometuron-methyl), and a control; four replicates were performed 70 days after sowing, at the beginning of the flowering phase of the plants, with the aid of a CO2-pressurized coastal sprayer. The energy balance for the production of sunflower oil and cake was carried out during the agricultural and industrial stage phase, where it was considered a cold extraction by hydraulic pressing, with the plant location in a rural area with a radius of 30km range. Data on productivity was used in two varieties of sunflower (Helio 358 and Aguará 04) grown in different seasons (2007/2008, 2008/2009), under different irrigation levels. Data showed that irrigation resulted in an increase in productivity of both varieties, and the best response was observed for Aguará 04 variety. ABSTRACT The hydrogen is a fuel with a high energy density. Studies have sought to verify the potential of different residues and configurations of reactors in the production of biohydrogen. This study evaluated the influence of the organic loading rate on the production of biohydrogen from cassava starch wastewater (CSW) in anaerobic sequencing batch biofilm reactors (AnSBBR) operated in a fed-batch. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of two genotypes of elephant grass, fertilized with and without N, for biomass production for energy use under the edaphoclimatic conditions of the Cerrado. The genotypes Roxo and Paraíso, grown in a field experiment in a Latosol in the Cerrado region were evaluated for biomass yield, nitrogen accumulation, C:N and stem:leaf ratios, fibre, ash and P and K contents and calorific value. The accumulated dry biomass ranged from 30 to 42 Mg ha-1 and showed no response to nitrogen fertilization with the lowest biomass obtained by the genotype Paraíso and the highest by Roxo. RESUMO A batata doce é tecnicamente uma planta perene, plantada e explorada como anual. A identificação do período de cultivo e de clones é importante para melhorar o aproveitamento dessa cultura, tanto na alimentação humana e animal, como para produção de etanol. Objetivou-se avaliar o desempenho de clones de batata doce cultivados em diferentes períodos de cultivo para a produção de bioetanol. Agriculture in Brazil, as well as worldwide, has been striving to meet the increasing demand for food, timber, fibers and bioenergy. While larger production is necessary, restrictions for expansion over natural environments increase. For the Brazilian beef industry, the current trend is towards little increase on herd numbers, despite reduction on grazing areas. Os resíduos do sorgo-sacarino, pela liberação de substâncias alelopáticas, podem afetar negativamente o desenvolvimento da cultura em sucessão. Nesse contexto, objetivou-se avaliar os efeitos dos resíduos de duas cultivares de sorgo-sacarino na soja Semeada em sucessão, em função de intervalos para semeadura após o manejo do sorgo. O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação na Embrapa Agropecuária Oeste, em Dourados, MS, em vasos com capacidade de 14 litros. Association of microalgae culture and anaerobic digestion seems a promising technology for sustainable algal biomass and biogas production. The use of digestates for sustaining the growth of microalgae reduces the costs and the environmental impacts associated with the substantial algal nutrient requirements.
