Enverdecimiento de la espata de Spathiphyllum wallisii Regel Colegio de Postgraduados

Spathiphyllum spp. es conocida comúnmente como cuna de moisés, se utiliza como planta ornamental, presenta una hoja modificada (espata), de color blanco, y conforme madura enverdece. Este fenómeno típico de algunas Aráceas es poco conocido. En el presente trabajo se analizaron algunos parámetros que intervienen en el enverdecimiento. Para clasificar el enverdecimiento la clorofila se midió con un medidor portátil (SPAD-meter 50), se delimitaron tres etapas en unidades relativas “SPAD”; E1 con 5 a 10, E2 de 15 a 20 y E3 de 25 a 30, como referencia se usaron espatas blancas (B) y hojas del follaje (V) con un rango de 35 a 46 unidades relativas. На основе материалов междисциплинарной базы океанографических данных по Чёрному морю проанализированы пространственная структура и изменения вертикального распределения интенсивности флуоресценции хлорофилла (ИФ) в зависимости от гидрологических, гидродинамических и гидрохимических условий в южной половине моря в апреле – мае 1994 г. Показано, что вертикальное распределение ИФ в этот период в 80 % случаев носит одномодальный характер. Максимум ИФ в основном залегает в ХПС: в низкоградиентной зоне между термоклином и основным пикноклином. На основании обобщения большого количества данных, полученных в результате исследований многих ав­торов, установлены временные и региональные изменения вертикального распределения концентрации хло­рофилла, флуоресценции. В холодный период (с декабря по март), когда вертикальное перемешивание по­верхностного слоя происходит достаточно активно, концентрация хлорофилла в глубоководных районах мо­ря распределена относительно равномерно в слое до 40 - 50 м. В теплый период (с мая по октябрь), после установления температурной стратификации в верхнем слое, преобладают профили с одним максимумом хлорофилла. Вертикальное распределение флуоресценции хлорофилла в Чёрном море в тёплый период IBSS Repository

На основе обобщения материалов шести экспедиций, выполненных в Чёрном море в летний и осенний периоды с 1991 по 2005 гг., проанализировано изменение вертикального распределения интенсивности флуоресценции хлорофилла (ИФ) в зависимости от гидрологических, гидродинамических и гидрохимических условий. Показано, что одномодальные профили ИФ доминируют в Чёрном море на протяжении всего тёплого периода. В 90% случаев максимум ИФ фиксируется в слое термоклина в среднем на глубине 22 ± 7 м. Пик ИФ залегает преимущественно на глубине максимального градиента плотности при величине последне- го ~ до 0.6 кг·м-3·м-1, а при его увеличении заглубляется на 5 – 7 м. Simultaneous measurement of mitochondrial respiration and ATP production in tissue homogenates and calculation of effective P/O ratios ArchiMer

The use of tissue homogenate has greatly aided the study of the functioning of mitochondria. However, the amount of ATP produced per oxygen molecule consumed, that is, the effective P/O ratio, has never been measured directly in tissue homogenate. Here we combine and refine existing methods previously used in permeabilized cells and isolated mitochondria to simultaneously measure mitochondrial ATP production (JATP) and oxygen consumption (JO(2)) in tissue homogenate. A major improvement over existing methods is in the control of ATPases that otherwise interfere with the ATP assay: our modified technique facilitates simultaneous measurement of the rates of uncorrected ATP synthesis and of ATP hydrolysis, thus minimizing the amount of tissue and time needed....

The bay of Somme is the first French field of cockles (Cerastoderma edule) with a production amounting to 3000 tons per year on average. In order to improve the stock management, it is necessary to increase our knowledge of this species. This study is looking at the growth of the common cockle. First, was carried out a morphometric analysis of the two left and right valves, which has revealed a perfect symmetry of the shell and has allowed us to establish strong correlations among the morphometric parameters. Development of a coastal upwelling front driven by advection and topographic effects in the North Sea-Baltic Sea transition ArchiMer

Upwelling of cold. saline, and nutrient rich water was observed in late September 1999 along an east-west transect in the SW Kattegat. The Kattegat forms part of the transitional zone between the high saline North Sea and the low saline Baltic Sea. The upwelling occurred after an extended period of northward flow and eastern winds in the Kattegat, that changed into a southward flow as wind ceased. The upwelling was the result of a combination of high current speeds and bottom topography whereby the high-speed inflow water was forced towards the surface at the slope. The paper reviews the methods described in the literature for the determination of total dissolved free primary amines (TDFPA) by fluorescence. A wide set of reaction conditions can be found, but they rely on few experiments for their validation. Among fluorogenic compounds, o-plithaldialdehyde (OPA) is more sensitive than fluorescamine and was thus examined here. However, the use of mercaptoethanol (ME) in the reaction (as ail additional derivatization compound) is able to generate unreliable results, in particular when standardization relies on glycine. We investigated the influence of freshwater discharges on biogeochemistry and benthic communities of La Saline fringing reef, the largest coral reef system of La Réunion Island (France, Indian Ocean). Sampling was conducted in February–March 2012 along a land-ocean continuum, including rivers, groundwater, reef waters, and oceanic waters. Our results indicated the discharges of basalt groundwater (enriched in nitrates) in the southern part of the reef, and the discharges of sand groundwater and river waters (enriched in organic matter) in sites located northward. Most analytical work uses tissue homogenates, and lacks spatial information on the tissue specific sites of actual ROS formation. Live-imaging techniques (LIT) utilize target-specific fluorescent dyes to visualize biochemical processes at cellular level. Results: Together with oxidative stress measurements, here we report application of LIT to bivalve gills for ex-vivo analysis of gill physiology and mapping of ROS and RNS formation in the living tissue.
